I'm protesting. What the hell makes you people think workers should be able to choose whether or not they have to join a union? I believe in FREEDOM and unions should be free to force people to join them!

You wanna know why they're protesting?

They want to take away their bargaining rights because the state has failed to live up to their part of the retirement bargain. In the interest of being everything for everyone and to keep funding earmarks and other misuse of state funds, the state has not made full if any payments into the pension funds of the state employees. The employees on the other hand have done everything they've said they would. Now, the state wants to have the emloyees pony up more money after defaulting on their payments and slap the state employees with the problem of balancing the budget that they the lawmakers have F*cked up to begin with! The state caused most of their own mess by defaulting on payments and giving bigger tax breaks, (Sound Familiar?) that brought down state revenues and is now looking at their state employees to fund the repair as well as take away their collective bargaining power so in the future they can roll over them some more. The state was fine and should have had a surplus. Had the state deposited their share that THEY AGREED to, the system would still be sound and functioning as it should.

As much as I am anti union, they did not cause the mess they're in.

I'll agree, state employees have a good deal. They also, like us, have not seen a pay raise in about 7 years, have seen pay roll backs, pay more for health pension etc. and there is no end in sight. However when you talk of reducing state spending, you are met with half azzed attempts that do little if nothing to stem over spending and actually cause more deficits. How bout we cut out the earmarks? How bout we cut out the bull sh*t spending.

Walker has not suggested once to compromise. Shame on you Why?

Wisconsin Teachers Failing At Their Jobs

In the middle of our discussion about the union protests in Wisconsin, here’s a fact worth noting.

As of 2009, only 40% of Wisconsin 8th graders tested as being proficient in math (PDF).

And their teachers are complaining about being required to do something we all do, contribute a portion of their health care premiums.

Strikes me that they should be counting themselves lucky to even have a job considering how badly they seem to be doing it.

nailed it. the problem with the entire public sector is there is ZERO accountability. you get triple the holidays i get, free benefits and retirement? what the hell company gives retirement now at 50 something?

it sucks but we have been living a credit pipe dream for years and years, if not decades. there are going to be cuts that are going to change peoples way of life. that is reality. we need a lot more of these types of cuts too. states need to get back in the black as does the federal government.

Now you want everyone to have to bail out bad decisions? When you spend more than you have, or can realistically sustain in the near future, you have to make cuts. Doesnt matter which party is in there, they all live beyond OUR means.

The plus side for unions is that no one works so they can keep this up for months!

"Missing Wisconsin state senators lose direct-deposit paychecks"

The Associated Press • February 22, 2011

MADISON — Wisconsin state senators who miss two or more session days will no longer get paid through direct deposit. They’ll have to pickup their checks in person on the Senate floor during a session.

The new rule is aimed at forcing the return of 14 Senate Democrats who have been hiding in Illinois since Thursday. They fled the state to stall a vote on an anti-union bill, and have threatened to stay away until Republican Gov.ScottWalker agrees to compromise.

Tuesday’s vote was along party lines. The three Republicans on the Committee on Senate Organization voted for it and the two Democrats opposed it.

The measure applies to paychecks, per diem checks, and any expense reimbursements. The absent senators will have to collect their checks from the Senate majority leader.

Fire all of these gubment union hacks. Hire back about a third of them to get any work done that really needs doing. Privatize the rest. End welfare breeding.
