Let me see if I got this right:

You want the United States of America to be more like North Korea, Iran, Afghanistan, China, Venezuala and CUBA?

Well, I for one certainly don't. If you do, you are a fascist.

But enjoy your little email spam fantasy.

Yay! Now that's a campaign slogan. "The USA should be more like Iran, Cuba and Venezuala! Vote for me!"

I suggest you demand the Republican party, or Tea party adopt that slogan.

Really? I have to point it out? You are of the opinion that it's the 'minorities' who are the main problem? The 'white' man is just fine, the darker skinned folks are bringing down the country? And you need me to point out what be the problem?

I don't think it's possible to actually make you see the problem with any amount of discussion. Just revel in your own shallow pool of ignorance.

Ah, that doesn't fit on a sign as easily. Saying you want to be more like Iran or Cuba does. Besides, there is no one, either left or right who is pro-illegal immigration. Seriously. There are differences on how to deal with the situation/problem, but no one who has any clout or power or holds an elected office is pro-illegal immigration.

I have no problem with anyone of any color as long as they contribute. I see, 1st hand, many people trying to beat the system, (yes white also), that have no intention of pitching in, but just want to live off of free programs.
It just so happens that many here still have green cards. I know several people, born and raised here, that ran into hard times and when they tried to get help were refused. The programs just arent geared for people that really need it

Ah yes, backing off from your 'minorities' position I see with the 'I know white people who couldn't get 'something' because of a minority' argument. If I've seen it once, I've seen it 1,000 times, and 999 of those times the story is complete BS.

Don't let fuzz bother you.
He can sniff out a potentially racially charged statement in 0.00012 seconds flat, all while patting his fraternal order of northern educated blowhards on the back whenever they're able to insult a southerner.

Fuzz, when the swedes become our immigration problem, then we'll be targeting the blue eyed blondes. Until then, get used to the fact that latinos and other minorities are mentioned when discussing immigration.

As for your repeated anti-Cuba comments above?
I find it ironic that you include this country in your retort, when it wasn't that long ago that you applauded them for their supposedly wonderful healthcare system.

As much as you don't think it happens Fuzz, it does, more than just one in 1000... True, there are a lot of BS stories out there pertaining to these examples...

Illegal immigration is a problem for sure but, until we fix the second, and third generation welfare recipient situation, we won't fix anything... There are people that have never known anything but welfare, and Government "assistance". To me, that is waste.

This country has gone through the same stuff before. 150-100 years ago it was the Irish, then Italians, etc. Each group having trouble becaue the 'native' population didn't want them here for one reason or another. This too will pass, it will get figured out someday. I know 'this time is different', it always is, yada yada. Seems like we're going to solve the problem this time by making the US a place no one would want to come to anyway.

The comments I made about Cuba above weren't either anti or pro. Mcbryde's were pro for all those countries in the OP on the border issue saying he thought they were doing a good job. I suggested the conservatives use it as a campaign slogan. I also did not applaud a wonderful healthcare system, I did, however, say that they were able to at least provide basic healthcare for all their citizens, something that we can't do and something that I consider a moral failing for the US.

I AM NOT ALLOWED TO VACATION IN SAUDI ARABIA.

WHEN I WORE THE UNIFORM OF THE USAF I COULD NOT BE STATIONED ON AN AMERICAN AIR BASE IN SAUDI ARABIA.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was founded by Abdul-Aziz bin Saud (known in the West as Ibn Saud) in 1932, although the conquests which eventually led to the creation of the Kingdom began in 1902 when he captured Riyadh, the ancestral home of his family, the House of Saud, referred to in Arabic as the Al Saud. Saudi Arabia's government takes the form of an Islamic absolute monarchy. The kingdom is sometimes called "The Land of the Two Holy Mosques" in reference to Mecca and Medina, the two holiest places in Islam. The two mosques are Masjid al-Haram (in Mecca), and Al-Masjid al-Nabawi (in Medina).

Tonight begins Yom Yerushalayim, Jerusalem Day. It celebrates the day in 1967 that the IDF returned the Old Jerusalem to Jewish hands.
It is also appropriate to remember on Yom Yerushalayim is that if it was not for the progressive hubris of the man who is considered the hero of the Six-Day-War, Moshe Dayan, Jerusalem and the Temple Mount would not be the issue it is today.
Jews were denied access to the Holy sites in the Old City Jerusalem since 1948, when Jordan took it over during the War of Independence. In the intervening 19 years the Jordanians waged systematic destruction, desecration and looting of Jewish sites.

SUPPOSE MOSHE DAYAN DECIDED TO CAPTURE SAUDI ARABIA BEFORE ABDUL-AZIZ BIN SUD DID. AND ABDUL HAD TO SETTLE FOR WHERE ISRAEL IS NOW, WE WOULD LIVE IN A DIFFERENT WOLD.

The difference between what happened at the turn of the 20th century was that the immigrants, despite thier national pride, WANTED to become Americans and DIDN'T expect handouts from anyone other than their family.
So not only is this time "different". It is proving to be catastrophic from an economic standpoint.

As for healthcare, you and I differ in our viewpoints.
Name one service that an average Cuban citizen receives that an average US citizen doesn't.
Again, I have to point at some of the hypocrisy of the pro-Obamacare crowd (not necessarily you, but the group in general):
We often hear the claim you made above: that US citizens are not afforded basic health care. As if they're actually turned away.
Now, without debating the truth of this, we can just wait a minute and then hear another "fact" from the same group: When an opposing voice exclaims that nobody is turned away and the crowded emergency rooms is proof positive, the pro-obamacare contingent proudly retort that obamacare would therefore save us money since we're paying for them anyhow.

Either way, it's a point that deserve discussion. Something that Obama refused when he rammed his plan down our throats.

Liberals are always so quick to call people racists. Since tailgater started the response I will give you a specific and personal example. On my mothers side of the family my grandparents were Italian-American immagrants. They used to tell stories of how hard their parents worked to become part of the fabric of ths country and to integrate themselves in the culture. They used to tell me the happiest day in their parents lives were when they became American citizens. My grandmother and grandfather grew up speaking Italian in the house but their parents would whup their asses if they dared to speak anything but English outside of the home. It was hysterical as a kid to see my grandmother and the Italian butcher carry on a conversation in broken English when they were both more comfortable speaking Italian but neither one would disrespect their adopted home country. They made an effort to integrate their family and cultural traditions into their new lives. 4th of July was a huge family get together but we always had macaroni and sausage and peppers along side our hamburgers and hot dogs. My mother has cousins whose last name is Irish even though they are 100% Italian. At the time her uncle grew up the Irish controlled the unions and Italians were not even considered for jobs. So he did what he needed to do and dropped a few vowels from his last name and legally changed it to something that sounded Irish and got work to support his family.

I could go on about things they did but I think its easier to point out things they didn't do. They made every attempt and put maximum effort into becoming US citizens. They didnt speak their born language outside of the home. They didnt expect signs and tests to be in their born language. They didn't fly their born countries flag outside their home or drive around with it on the hood of their car. They didn't not work and expect health care and welfare and food stamps from their new country. they didn't ignore opportunity and made the best of the education and emplyment opportunities they had.

So I don't think its racism that causes people to have issue with the current immigrants. I think its the "here I am - feed me, clothe me, keep me healthy, and oh while your at it learn my language" mentality that didnt used to exist. And its not all new immigrants that have that mentality. I work everyday with people who were born in England, Columbia, Trinidad, Jamaica, Bangladesh, Pakistan, etc. They all work hard, got their citizenship and even they are disgusted by the mentality described above.

My family has owned a building since 1981, and I have worked there since 1986... There is a low income apartment complex directly across the street from us that has always been full of welfare and section 8 housing recipients. Most have never moved, and their kids grew up and live in apartments in the same complex... now, THEIR kids are moving into apartments there, and the cycle continues... Do you know how many people in that complex are minorities? Just about NONE.... The U.S. pays people to be uneducated... Plain and simple...

I said NOTHING about race... Tell me Rick, if the purple people are peeing in the pool and ruining everybody's day, is that a blue people problem? Or, is a purple people problem?

This time Rick, YOU are talking about race... Shame on you!!!!

unfortunately, the biggest problem of all is that both sides continue to talk past one another and do nothing productive to actually solve the problem.

This thread pretty much directly mirrors how the government deals with this issue: each side talks past the other and neither are willing to actually build toward a solution.

Personally, I think it's a little absurd. My family moved here in 1991 from Canada on an educational visa and went through all proper channels to obtain a green card.

We received green cards in 2005, after almost 15 years of working in the USA, contributing taxes etc.

If it had taken 6 more months, we likely would have had to return to Canada, my parents would have lost their jobs.

Before I get slammed as a crazy socialist, I've lived below the Mason-Dixon line for 20 years.

Honestly, you can't fault the people who emigrate here illegally - they are coming from a horrible situation and, if the opportunity is there, why not take a chance? The worst case scenario is that they are right back where they started. Unfortunately, the US government has taken no major steps to rectify this issue, and I can confidently say illegal immigration makes it much harder for legal immigrants to enter the USA.
