This too will pass, it will get figured out someday. I know 'this time is different', it always is, yada yada. Seems like we're going to solve the problem this time by making the US a place no one would want to come to anyway.
The comments I made about Cuba above weren't either anti or pro. Mcbryde's were pro for all those countries in the OP on the border issue saying he thought they were doing a good job. I suggested the conservatives use it as a campaign slogan. I also did not applaud a wonderful healthcare system, I did, however, say that they were able to at least provide basic healthcare for all their citizens, something that we can't do and something that I consider a moral failing for the US.
The difference between what happened at the turn of the 20th century was that the immigrants, despite thier national pride, WANTED to become Americans and DIDN'T expect handouts from anyone other than their family.
So not only is this time "different". It is proving to be catastrophic from an economic standpoint.
As for healthcare, you and I differ in our viewpoints.
Name one service that an average Cuban citizen receives that an average US citizen doesn't.
Again, I have to point at some of the hypocrisy of the pro-Obamacare crowd (not necessarily you, but the group in general):
We often hear the claim you made above: that US citizens are not afforded basic health care. As if they're actually turned away.
Now, without debating the truth of this, we can just wait a minute and then hear another "fact" from the same group: When an opposing voice exclaims that nobody is turned away and the crowded emergency rooms is proof positive, the pro-obamacare contingent proudly retort that obamacare would therefore save us money since we're paying for them anyhow.
Either way, it's a point that deserve discussion. Something that Obama refused when he rammed his plan down our throats.
