That is what happens when you make false accusations and then play dumb.

And you still don't get it.

I never claimed to have any empathy. Rick has.
I am not repulsed by his comments, but rather by the source.

Hence the "hypocrite" label.

Dude, if you need a dictionary I can set you up.
But this is getting ridiculous.
English.
Learn it.

Your welcome.

Ok. Let's wrap this up.

You have no empathy, you are intolerant of 'liberals' and frequently call them names.

You believe Rick thinks he has empathy, but since he disagrees with you and frequently calls 'conservatives' names, that's out of bounds and hypocritical.

Yet you don't think that calling a 'liberal' a name while complaining about them calling 'conservatives' bad names is not hypocritical.

Brilliant.

Nice try, but no cigar.
I'm not calling Rick a hypocrite because he called a "conservative" a name.

It's obvious that if I told you 2 + 2 = 4, you'd wonder what happened to 3.

I'm bored with you now.

LOL!! Good grief- NO, my combative brother. I enjoy your sarcasm immensely.
I just don't have the fire in the belly to debate (via the keyboard) anymore over things I have little or no control to change OR in defense of friends that I feel are misunderstood.

I know I simpled up that sentence too much. You are calling him a hypocrite, the definition of which you obviously don't know, because:

tailgater wrote:
Yet he routinely blasts the religious right and in this instance he is poking his 4 ft high nose into a man's personal grief and core beliefs.

He's a hypocrite.

Huge difference there. He would be a hypocrite if he demanded that his religious beliefs should not be questioned, or 'blasted' while he was doing it himself. Blasting another person's religious beliefs is not hypocritical even if you tout yours, that's a disagreement on philosophy.

tailgater wrote:
Rick was being hypocritical because his angst is based on the persons religious and/or faith based actions. Actions which hurt no one, but draw out his ire simply because they are different than his own.
Over the years, Rick has been justified in standing up for the little guy (no pun intended) and has made mention of both his religion and his upbringing to make his point on many occassions.
He has thwarted many a conservative viewpoint towards "other" religions by referencing said upbringing and from speaking first hand.

So when he attacks a person for their own religious beliefs, beliefs that harm no one and shouldn't merit a second look, then yes. He is being hypocritical.

And your angst is based on what? The other person's beliefs, which hurt no one. I mean if you want to think that an anti-choice stance because of religious principles 'harms no one' then a left of center person's anti-war, pro-worker stances harm no one too.

tailgater wrote:

Ok, so the source bugs you because. . . . . .he disagrees with you! Not that hard to figure out, but you are talking about disagreements, not hypocrisy, which is: the practice of professing standards, beliefs, etc., contrary to one's real character or actual behaviour, esp the pretence of virtue and piety.

So I guess you aren't being a hypocrite really because you never said you didn't 'blast' people who disagree with you, you only condemn those who do. Sounds like the pretence of virtue to me.

OK, I am coming out as a R tomorrow, after all. Last minute trip to NYC didn't give me enough time to vote early and I wasn't going to get home until after the polls close tomorrow. Got a call a few minutes ago, just while I was figuring out what to pack. The the trip is canceled! Seems like my cousin's cat of 15 years is on her deathbed and he just doesn't want to leave her. Mitt gets my vote tomorrow, after all!

IT DOES NOT REQUIRE A DEGREE IN LANGUAGE, PSYCHOLOGY, OR RELIGION TO
UNDERSTAND SANTORIUM BRINGING HOME THE REMAINS OF A MISCARRIAGE
FOR HIS CHILDREN TO EXAMINE IS BEYOND THE PALE OF ANY RELIGIOUS
DOCTRINE. IT IS SIMPLY STUPID

IF YOU THINK IT REQUIRES HIGHTEND AWARENESS TO UNDERSTAND THAT
YOU DON'T HAVE A CLUE. AND REFERRING TO ME AS MEDICATED IS JUST
YOUR EXCUSE TO ATTEMPT TO INSULT ME.AND IT MAKES YOU A POMPOUS ASS.

THE RELIGIOUS RIGHT ARE EASILY LED BY CON MEN LIKE RALPH REED.AND OTHER
BIBLE QUOTERS WITH THEIR DESIGNER ROBES. WHEN I ATTENDED MUHLENBERG,
A LUTHERAN COLLEGE ONCE A WEEK WE WERE REQUIRED TO ATTEND LUTHERAN
SERVICES. ONE DAY THE MINISTER CAME DRESSED IN SWEATS AND EXPLAINED THE
ROBES I USUALLY WEAR ARE TRADITIONAL, BUT HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH WHAT
I TRY TO TEACH YOU ABOUT THE FAITH.

I PERSONALLY I DON'T GIVE A CRAP WHAT YOU BELIEVE BUT USING ANY OFF THE
WALL IDIOTIC IDEA THAT BRINGING A MISCARRIAGE HOME IS NOT MUCH DIFFERENT
THEN CANNIBALS EATING A DEAD ENEMY'S HEART AND BRAIN TO CAPTURE THE
DEAD ENEMY'S STRENGTH AND INTELLIGENCE.

I HOPE AT SOME POINT YOU WILL FIND PEACE BUT I DOUBT IT

MY OTHER SONS DAUGHTER JUST GAVE BIRTH TO A BOY, I AM A GREAT

Le HockeyDad will not be voting but Rfenst has it covered for me with his Mitt Obama vote.

Here is how it works:

Obama needs water.
Someone has to carry it.
Rfenst carries water with the strength of Sampson.
Obama turns the water into wine.
Obama pours a few glasses of wine for Le HockeyDad!

i love to listen to people talk about religion .everyone wants to go to heaven but
no one wants to die, for whst dreams may come when we have shuffled off this mortal coil.

most of these folks can't balance a check book or if asked why a heavy metal boat floats,
or what 7 X 3equals, but they can quote passages from a book of myths to explain why god
lets some animals grow new parts, but a human loses an arm, we don't. too bad. is this the
same god that wanted adam to kill one of his kids

what is this original sin, that jesus forced his own torture and died for ,and that gave
everyone a pass. it's nonsense and ego.

you and i are nothing more then a piece of protoplasm with some electrical charge, capable of
feeling good or bad, not physical, but emotionally and how or why usually remains a mystery.

but lets get back to the glory of god and explaining that god changed his mind and decided to
mess up mrs santorum's system and kill the little potential person growing in her body.
god does not have to explain whv he changed his mind. this is all nonsense.

life is what happens to people between the time they are born and the time they die and
because we like answers we invent answerslike god, and angels and demons instead of
accepting that things just happen.

It's 3 am...the phone rings. Who do you want answering that phone? Does it even matter? I'm sure the White House has an answering machine...maybe even a operator. I'm willing to bet that there's prolly a math tutor in there for hard to answer questions and who has time to take off their socks?

Pride precedes a fall and that's all anyone really needs to know.

This is a cigar board not a theologian conference or some huckster cash grab. You're angry that you're not God's right hand man we all get it. Ripping on religion or those that practice it is akin to picking on retarded children. It looks bad and everyone gets this notion that you're a terrible person for doing it and that perhaps you're just not wired right and you're ready to blow like the guy in "Falling Down"...oh wait you've done that too?! Poor Trig.

Life is what happens. What you decide to do molds you into the person you are. The way you're seen by others and sometimes having a moral compass based on a religious background can ground oneself. I think of it as a baseline. I'm not practicing...I'm seeking. I have questions and want answers. The baseline is there whether you choose to believe in it or not. It's a foundation for courtesy, etiquette and a basis to enhance oneself. Even the Old Testament is chock full of life lessons. The New Testament is more in tune with faith. What you do with it is your own accord. You live in America. A nation that used to pride itself in Freedom. We're not that free anymore. Rights are eroding faster than paint can flake off a house. Almost like Germany in 1939. We all know how that turned out.

You don't want to practice a religious belief and that's fine too. I just don't know people that do practice that go out of their way in public to bash on atheists and agnostics. It seems its a one way street with them. They want freedom FROM religion and that isn't written anywhere. Oh sure theres evangelicals that go door to door wanting you to receive THE Word, but I'm positive that you treat them like a Fuller Brush Salesman and tell them to get the **** off your property and never grace your porch again. That's fine too. Remember we do live in America.

So, we get to the meat and potatoes of your post...Rick Santorum. I really don't know a thing about this guy. I don't care too either. From what I have seen of him, he's polite, articulate and loves his family. Don't follow his political career so I can't tell you how many bills he's written or how high he pushed the debt ceiling with another entitlement program for this debt slaved nation. One thing for certain is that he's this week's Sarah Palin. You've sunk your teeth into him like a rabid dog. You're infatuated with the feti and his family story. Do you wish he would've knocked on your door and shared it with you instead? Do you feel like he swindled you on that? I dunno...seems like just maybe he got more out of a sermon than 15 years of "God Damned America" and other Black Liberation statements than Obama, but he got a pass from you. That's a bit of hypocrisy that needs to be explained. Why did you give Obama a pass? Why haven't you railed on his religious beliefs like any other political standout you rant about? Why? I will say this about Santorum...he's not pushing a Big Government agenda like Obama, Mitt or Newt. He does want to balance the budget and that's more than I can say about this administration and the crimes they're committing in the name of "Serving".

Today's the day I get to vote for a candidate that best represents me. That person isn't Santorum. Today, I'm going to cast a vote and like so many candidates that I choose to study and have voted for, he won't win. Its those that have the winning ideas that never win. It's the puppet that wins. They all read from the same playbook. No deviation from the plan. Puny humans aren't allowed to see the plan. It would probably turn people into pillars of salt if they were to read from it. So, today while I exercise my God given right to vote I ask you while you feign your indignation who made you so important? Is anyone voting for you? No. Stick with your day job.

RICKAMAVEN,

I think that Santorum and his wife weren’t thinking clearly because of grief when they brought home their dead baby. It is still bat chit crazy but I think that there are justifiable reasons why they did it. I don’t think I would vote for him, but not because of this. I just don’t like his politics and direction.

Rick I understand your comments on religion but there is an important component that you fail to mention…Faith. I know that this is a copout response but Faith is what it is all about. IMO

Personally, I also know that we all owe a life and I don’t think about Heaven and Hell when I think about death. I’d certainly like to have some sort of afterlife but what form is not for any of us to say. I think that only the misguided do things to attempt to purchase a ticket into “Heaven”.

I certainly won't vote for any of the other Republicans (particularly Newt) who "could" win the primary. Of all R candidates, I want to ultimately choose between Obama and Romney. Why does that seem to bother you?
