Unlike Jade, I did not vote for Obama. But to counter your points...

Unemployment, sure you are correct, but average joe punch clock only will see the percentage down in the slick ads.

Iraq is a mess. Sure. But Americans aren't being killed there any more. Saddam had a handle on the whole thing. Bush started the expensive mess (an unnecessary war to boot) Obama will get credit for getting us out. Stopping the bleeding literally and financially.

Bottom line: He'll get credit for killing Bin Laden in three years, where Bush couldn't do it in seven.

I'm not happy about it, but if it becomes a Gingrich v Obama, I'll place a wager with you on the winner.

Plus..... hypocrisy pisses off the average Joe. For some reason, Gingrich seems to be getting a pass from the Fundamentalists for the whole "leaving a sick wife..not once but twice" thing but not from the average guy. You listen to this guy spout moral nonsense and know what he's done...no way. Santorum is waaaaay too over the top with his "morality". The average Joe doesn't want the Gubmint in his bedroom and doesn't actually care whether gays are married. In fact, Joe Sixpack is very tired of crap like this. He just wants a job and to feel safe.

Paul has some good ideas, but some his ideas are a little different and the GOP will do everything they can to sink his ass. It will work too.

Mitt couldn't even beat the rest of the GOP field last time. He's boring as hell, a flip-flopper, Mormon, and the media will hammer him about his offshore accounts. He will win the nomination but stands NO CHANCE against Obama. This election was over before it ever started. Sorry...game over.

REAL doesn't mean anything. Reality doesn't mean much.

In the upcoming election, it will be all about perception.

The perception and reality is that Obama is less dirty than Newt.

I'm not happy about, but the is the reality AND the perception.

A double dose of reality is on it's way.

Cut the crap. All the damn time.

"Nice try Comrade...

But, if it were not for the torture of KSM Bin laden would still be alive and not wrapped in an American Flag/Shroud at the bottom of the sea."

Excusing torture for just one. That was found with a very fast search and there are tons more if I had the time or desire to search longer.

Once again....I agree. I would also add that if this thing does come down to a race between Newt and Obama, Obama will win on looks alone. Newt looks like a pig and a caricature of a white, soft, rich, Republican Robber Baron. Obama is a cool, smooth, good-looking man. Think I'm full of shlt? Ask Nixon after he debated Kennedy.

lol. I never listen to NPR btw. Go Giants!

Excusing the last administration's torture policy while dismissing this administration's successes like the killing of OBL is a fine example of what I'm talking about, and you should know it. If not it's not problem.

Notice the quotes? That was a quote from Wheel. It's obvious from the way it was written, for most people anyway. I apologize for not dumbing the post down so you could understand.

I always wonder why people make that argument. In order for rational comparisons to have meaning, the definition of "unemployment" must remain constant.

I know right? Like somehow the Democrats are able to change the way it's calculated based on who is president, a real conspiracy. So silly, like most of the right's arguments.

The Reps used the same formula.

The formula doesn't count people who have stopped looking for work. Neither does it count self employed people who have lost their business'.

It's a shell game politicians have played foe a long time.

The U6 Unemployment Rate is far more realistic..

Sounds like some more people might be applying for the Obama Cone of Protection.

It is already full but we'll still accept applications with your donations.

4 more years!

It s not just the Rs. The Ds make the same argument. It has much more to do with which party the numbers favor- kind of like the "in's v. the out's.

No measure of "unemployment" will be precise. Changing definitions leads to faulty analysis when comparing the numbers under one definition against another definition. That just doesn't cut it with me.

Unemployment and underemployment are two different things. Hell, underemployment, in and of itself, is at least two different things- those only working part time who used to work full time and those working for less pay/income than they previously were.

All that I know is that here in Orlando, prospective employers the "want ads" have been slowly growing each week to month; wages for certain kinds of work are increasing slowly (as opposed to decreasing) and home re-sales are picking up albeit for much less than before the boom. Tourism is up and people's confidence in the economy are cautiously and slowly improving.

On the other hand, we know families with professional earners who are moving out of state as they finally obtain new jobs. Perhaps that is part of why, we just received reports of local unemployment dropping bellow 10% since the First Quarter of '08...

No, not rosy. Won't be for a long time here in Orlando as our housing market is grossly over-supplied (and people can't afford the minimum requirements to get a loan). However, if this trend continues and unemployment drops another couple percent by Fall, Obama will definitely be in the race..*
