The problem isn't free trade, the problem is that we can't compete with 3rd world countries who have a fraction of the regulations we have.

We restrict ourselves and limit our abilities to maintain global dominance through innovation and then give the shop away to pissant nations that would rather kill the men, rape the women and play polo with the heads of children in order to "level the playing field" and make it "fair" in the New PC World. Then they wonder why the economy is tanking!

As a result we invented and perfected the multinational corporation and globalism. Embrace it!

IMO; Mexico and Canada are 2-1/2 world counties. I also think that international trade is inherently un-fair.

I have a bigger issue with some of the other free trade agreements. 1985 Israel - US Agreement, 2001 - Jordan US Agreement, proposed U.S.–Middle East Free Trade Area Agreement. (Not in any particular order.)

WTF?

As of the past 10- 12 years or so, we no longer have a domestic open market either. Price collusion, monopolies, & cronyism/favoritism abound. Little guy "start-ups" these days are very, very lucky if they survive the first year or two. Credit lines are smaller and existing/potential customers are usually strapped or have reduced budgets.

As far as NAFTA's concerned, Perot was right. Can you hear the whoosh sound of departing jobs?

I hate to kill a thread with negative vibes soooooo...

On a more positive note, the Dodge Dart, tv sitcoms, and "main street" living/shopping/working environs (replacing malls) are all making a comeback!! Applause
