This is our area. Any death is a shame, but death because of unfounded hate is a tragedy. The killer (alleged) targeted these people because of their color/religion/heritage. They were celebrating their sabbath. If it had been any church anywhere, it still would be a tragedy. They were not doing anything wrong.

Just thank God that we live in one of the safest countries in the world with a great standard of living that all others envy. That's why they come here.

My wife worked with Sikhs at Bechtel & said they were very capable folks- didn't always hit the target area on the commode because they squatted on top of the seat (posters w/pics had to be posted- true story) but they were good people.

That is true...

But what it comes down to is that I'm more bothered by ideas which allow a society to systematically injure or kill a group of people than I am by individual instances of violence.

To call an individual instance of violence a "tragedy" while supporting the framework which allowed it to happen is the utmost hypocrisy.

"Tragedy" is currently used language by media who want to put up bumpers in life to keep us safe. Everytime this word is used in a case like this its always followed by "prevent".


Which inturn is followed by kneejerk reaction that only restricts law biding citizens and sacrifices liberties.

Murder is murder. Assault is assault. There isn't different degrees to me.

But I can see your point, Victor. Because if it is a sad occurrence they (media) resort to using an easy "go to" word that connotes sadness to most folks. They could have just as easily used mishap, vendetta (against another race), or simply murder as Z said.

Who gives a crap whether the victims were "white" no matter what your definition of that is? Innocent worshipers were killed in a house of God. The same one God most of us here believe in (not that it would matter otherwise). How your mind segues this into medication for mental illness, Obama politics and whether or not it was racist or a "tragedy, just amazes me.

If you don't see the difference in reporting of issues being done differently as a problem then I don't know what to say to you. This isnt a right vs left this is capitalizing on a political opportunity and that disgusts me whoever does it. Right now that's the media.
