It has been a wonderful time under our "leader". He is such a polarizing figure and plays lots of golf, akin to Nero who played the fiddle!

Believe it or not, I almost (protest) voted for Obama last time. Refrained from voting altogether at the last second.
Besides, I didn't like the giveaways that year.

I remember a day when anyone who didn't vote for bush was a democrat. Yet those that voted for bush didn't do so for partisan reasons.

I think we should get rid of the supreme court since we know better in here what is constitutional or not. We should lock down current membership in here to prevent outsiders flooding the board and libbing it up (since like fox it is fair and balanced in here). Then all legal matters could be subjected to a poll. The results will be binding.

We should do the prez elections that way to since no one in here is partisan and every one gives deep thought to their positions that are in no way influenced by partisan politics.

Let's get r done!

#69. There are some that will. Ryan is considered pretty radical by some. His budget certainly is. I'd bet the dems are licking their chops on this one.

Palin was an unknown and for awhile the dems were nervous about it and the rs were excited by the fresh face and rack. Then she spoke.

Ryan is known by the folks that follow politics. It will be interesting how he translates to the masses.

The "Citizens United" ruling has nothing to do with the 14th amendment, but it's already enabling us to go in the wayback machine to the gilded age of robber barons and allowing the degree to which money buys political influence metastasize.

Sorry HD, I think it is more along the lines that they dont want to pay a living wage to the American worker, if illegals went home, you would pay more to get your grass cut, your house built, your roads paved. We are already seeing this in my area.

That myth died a LONG time ago!

Get over it and stop crying foul...you cannot have it both ways!

Either business is booming or you're ripping off people! Either you're working for an overpriced union or you're in business for yourself.

Get the lies straight.

So what do you want the Democrats to do.....be tough on illegals and send them all home so that we have price inflation or keep the illegals, grant them amnesty, and keep prices stable?

The choice both parties have selected so far is do nothing about the illegals. The Republicans like to talk tough about them to stir the outrage!

I agree with HD, that is a great post. I say its worth it to give them a free ride home, that way the money given to them is returned to our economy and not mailed somewhere else, and we have less of a burden on our welfare system.

They're all in favor of amnesty because price inflation is the devil. Hordes of illegals are the chosen lesser of two evils.

I think this is a partial myth, Drywall, generated in part by the cocktail set & early retirement fat asses sitting in lawn chairs by their mailboxes waiting for their guaranteed green checks to arrive. Americans are lazy. Americans will not do certain jobs. Americans are cheap (more likely broke) and will not pay for higher priced yet probably better made American products, yada, yada, yada.

Americans will do whatever it takes to feed, clothe, and shelter their families. We stand in lines for hours on end at job fairs for a limited number of entry level jobs. We are replaced by outsourcing or by import skilled labor that works for nothing and is used to ****ting in buckets at home. Unfortunately, some of the social programs have been abused and made us more dependent but all in all Americans fend for themselves.

I paid my employees more much more than the minimum wage to start. Now, out of duress many of us can't do that any more. I think that the market will sustain itself & only pay for what it can afford. IMHO, if illegals are ever replaced by higher- paid Americans, prices/costs may bump up slightly only to naturally come down again eventually. Either that or we will be doing so well again (a la the 80's & 90's) that we won't care about minimal cost increases anyway.

Or we need to think outside the box. I beleive we are going through another revolution or changing of "age". The world will continually change. Not sure what is around the corner but do think at some point the industrial revolution will be totally over and the next will be here. We are in the transitionary period right now.

On a side note I also think the us fooled the world when we copyrighted and kept all manufacturing of the made in china stickers right here.

Yes, I believe you're right, TW. Continued good health coverage paid for out of pocket by the rich and assembly line, bring your own pot to piss in healthcare for the rest of us.

drywalldog wrote:

Healthcare is an altogether different animal IMHO, my friend. No doubt that the insurance companies are taking advantage of limited competition & raping us.

My premiums go up at least 30% every year with ever increasing deductibles that practically convert health coverage into basically just catastrophic coverage.

There are alot less illegals in my area right now and wages have ticked up at least a dollar an hour. I think Americans are the best labor in the world if given a fair wage, but if you expect them to work for Walmart wages, then you get walmart workers.

Good talking with you, guys. Have to run though.
Btw did you mean "Walmart workers" in pejorative way? If you meant lazy, getting by with minimal effort, disinterested, etc. we see that in the Government and in better paid private enterprise. It's hit or miss with most customer service anywhere in the world these days...

My main point, is that the wage increases to the middle class will all be returned to our own economy, and by the fact that the middle class that hasnt been able to spend anything in last 5 years, more homes, cars, boats, and even health insurance.

The good news - obamacare is requiring so many cents on the dollar of premium collected must actually be paid in medical claims.... if not refunds must be issued

The bad news - iffin you watch how providers are paid the insurance companies are finding ways to pay them more rather than refun to you ...... (sideways ways of doing it.... for example say a copay on an MRI but then coinsurance on the medicine/injection required to make the mri high contrast etc.......)
