Upon reflection and consultation with my research assistant (Google), I think lie was correct. "Lay" is a transitive verb and requires an object. I laid it down. It was lying there.

Based upon my looking into it, I think SOB had it right in the first place. It would seem (to my feeble brain) that it would depend upon the construct of the sentence.

To further confuse, I referred to Grammarly. Speaking of things like direct objects it would seem the address is such. However, there is an example later in their post about leaving dirty clothes lying around the house. Why aren't they laying around the house?

This is standard usage. There is no such thing as “correct English” but you have satisfied the rules of grammar for standard usage.

B.21, just making sure we are all on the same page. This is the order of operations:

Brother sends smokes to brother who asks for smokes then posts tracking number
Box of smokes lands on target
Then the brother who sent smokes in line one asks for smokes
Next brother says, I’ll send you smokes, puts box in mail, posts tracking number
Brother in line 3 then asks for smokes


So technically, if you got hit twice, you can send out boxes to 2 brothers in separate posts and when tracking number is up you can ask for smokes. If I’m not mistaken, a brand new noob has to wait until the boxes land before asking for smokes. Once you have established credibility you can ask once you’ve posted the tracking numbers. You may not get a hit until the box lands, that just depends on how well the crowd knows you. Personally, I think you have established your credibility but I’m not the judge.

And, as you have learned already, it can be difficult to find a brother who hasn’t been hit recently. Anyway, if you knew all of this already, sorry for the SPAM. I still get confused from time to time remembering the different rules for the various trade threads.

I got confused as someone passed their turn to me and I got picked up by Cheno and then he passed his turn to me. So I guess I was still target.

But if I need to find someone to send smokes to I’ll pick up someone to send to also. Not a problem at all. Stopped by local B&M store today so I got some stock to send without sending stuff I have received.

Jeebs, B21 had it right. He was picked up and regifted/"hit twice." Apparently just following procedure by asking The Question again.

B21, generally we don't bother asking the question after a gifting. Rather we tend to curse the gifter and their entire lineage for their generosity.

I can't read so good, so I am confused. I want to make this point as clear as mud

What are you all up to here?? nOOb PIB. nOOb (or other BOTL) sends then asks for smokes. In lieu of asking for smokes the sender may choose to gift their turn to anyone they feel needs or deserves some cigars. When a gifted turn is received the receiver of gift gets a pass on sending and just receives. That's the whole point of the gifting. On occasion, someone will get picked up and gifted relentlessly and the poor basstid can't avoid getting shelled.

Was that made clear before my possibly redundant posting?

B21, unless you pick someone up, you just sit there and take the beatings that are coming.


Further: If you begin to feel out of balance, that's when you pick up someone in a trade thread to send to. Direct retaliation for any smack downs you receive is not usually the appropriate response. Take it out on some other azzhat and it all works out in the long run. Planning for future retaliation may be warranted at times.

Let’s make this easier. I will get your azz if you pass to me and use your addy as a return addy . For future packages for months. Ask Cheno it works . When someone passes to you if you are greedy then you will ask the question to make sure we see it . Trust me we see who is up we don’t have to have someone tell us fog who is up .

I still love you brother but use some ethics don’t be giddy as a school gurl cause you gonna get free smokes .

Corey sorry I wasn’t trying to be greedy just wanting to get the smack down over with. I believe someone asked who was up so I responded. I’m still really new to the forum and don’t know all the unwritten language or rules to follow. Yes I will take smokes but I also have no problem sending smokes out as well.
