Conservative? phffft More like Democrat lite. They stand for nothing.
Go back to the ways of Reagan. Discard Romneisms, MacLames, Bushiite, Doleless, and oatmeal Fordism.

Naaaah, too late for that now. Go after the illegal vote and promise soccer moms, urban folk, queers, and unions more than the Democrats offer.
Yeah, THAT's the ticket!!

Yep. I agree with sending them BOTH there too. Democrats first though. They've done more damage.

Tea Party is a misnomer now as they've been coopted by the likes of ****** Army.

How about a tea party minus the Religious Right and old style party hacks.

Freedom and liberty orientated please.

But you can't keep those asses out. And they've got the $$

The tea party started with a good idea. Then they got coopted by the religious right.

How was the Tea Party co-opted by the so called religious right? Support for Israel? Prayer in school? Christmas displays of the manger (gasp)!
I consider myself part of the "religious right". I haven't co-opted anything.
Please educate me. I'm serioupolous.

If I recall, initial tea party "protests" were centered solely around spending and people's irritation at the bloat in government.

It wasn't until the group started gaining traction that certain groups (including the religious right) started to want to add language to their platforms around "family values" etc.

I agree. The Tea Party started out, with a message that I agreed with mainly, but have since, just turned into a Republican lite.

Back in '94, the "Contract with America" showed much promise. Won Republicans a lot of seats. Then it just fizzled out.

IMHO, I don't thing renege is the correct word, Victor. More like, forgotten or ignored. Parts of it were tossed aside for expediency in getting the milquetoast Boehners of the world re-elected. Others, like Newt & Tom DeLay discredited it with their antics. Then, when dubya entered the scene, the war began & it was tossed for budgetary reasons. That and the first phoney bailout Tarp.

Maybe some "family values" is what we need in this country.

Where is the poll option for Reagan Conservatism?

A real conservative understands the government should mind it's collective business and stay out of religious, medical, abortion and marriage issues. This requires an "Other' answer.

Give that man a cigar!

People in this country need to do some serious soul-searching and ask ourselves: What should the purpose of government be? Over the past few generations, (most) people have decided that they want a government that is all things to all people. Look what we've gotten with that attitude. We have tried the "big government" approach. It has failed. It has left our country bankrupt and under a crippling debt, destroyed our currency, annihilated our civil liberites, nearly wiped out the middle class, given government totalitarian powers over our relationships, wallets, property, and privacy. It has filled our prisons with nonviolent "criminals". It has destroyed our respect on the world stage.

But do you know what I fear the most? I fear that when the dollar crashes, we go into inflationary freefall, and unemployment reaches 20%, instead of scaling back government, people will demand even MORE government.

PREACH ON!

People will demand MORE and the ones opposing it will look to the very same government to "fix" it!

America won't even take to the streets though. We've become too soft. Look what's going on in Spain and Italy...Iceland did it and look at them!

Yeah, DC is gonna fix everything...why they have to. After they give the free stuff away that is. They ought to set up the gallows now and start holding senators, congressmen, lobbyists and judges accountable for the treason they're perpetuating on this nation. Then kick the Kenyan King to the curb.

Here's a joke with a tinge of truth to it...

A guy stopped at a local gas station and, after filling his tank, he paid the bill and bought a soft drink. He stood by his car to drink his cola and watched a couple of men working along the roadside. One man would dig a hole two or three feet deep and then move on. The other man came along behind him and filled in the hole. While one was digging a new hole, the other was 25 feet behind filling in the hole. The men worked right past the guy with the soft drink and went on down the road.

"I can't stand this," said the man, tossing the can into a trash container and heading down the road toward the men. "Hold it, hold it," he said to the men.

"Can you tell me what's going on here with all this digging and refilling?"

"Well, we work for the government and we're just doing our job," one of the men said. "But one of you is digging a hole and the other fills it up.

You're not accomplishing anything. Aren't you wasting the taxpayers' money?"

"You don't understand, mister," one of the men said, leaning on his shovel and wiping his brow. "Normally there's three of us: me, Elmer and Leroy. I dig the hole, Elmer sticks in the tree, and Leroy here puts the dirt back. Elmer's job's been cut... so now it's just me an' Leroy.

I digress...the problem is Alex Jones though???...yeah, that's the ticket! The guy strikes out more than he gets a hit but I'd rather stand beside a guy that fully understands just what his rights are than a full court tard like Joe Biden! That walking joke makes ALL Americans look bad.

I checked other.

The Republicans should go full Libertarian.

The federal government does not, should not and can not concern itself with who marries who, or health care or entitlement programs. The federal government is in charge of treaties and the military and some minor housekeeping issues between the states.

Protect the Constitution.

Smaller government. Less wasteful government. Less government interference at home and abroad.

Of course, this would immediately lose you all the people who are milking the system now and on the teat, but there might be enough people left to make it a viable option. You would find me there.

Oh really?? And where was your young AZZ on 9/11 2011 for the original Tea Party Assembly in Wash. DC ??
How many gatherings have YOU been a part of in your State or city? I've been there.....
This fog took the time off from my work and spent the money it took to be there, I was NOT one who sat my butt home and hoped I'd be counted as one who "felt" the same as those who were there!!! I DO NOT look forward to the change you are bringing (or think you are) with your cute poem like dribble.....d'oh!

I also took the time to contact my Rep. here in IN to ask him to table a vote on SB400 (indefinite detention of Americans bill) so that it can be voted on. As it looks like the States are gonna have to send a direct message to Wash. that this will NOT be tolerated.......You?

I'm not politically active anymore because I don't have the time, cash, nor interest but I find that what TMC does is commendable. At least he has the courage of his convictions. It beats platitudes & gesturing.

I also don't begrudge what you post, tegulator, but I don't think that an esoterically profound philosophical bent will move folks on here.
