And for the record: please no one advocate for bailing out Detroit. All you'll be doing at this point is flushing money down a hole.

The have building still being "repaired" after the riots in the 60s.

They have potholes with several families living in them.

The weeds have formed their own union.

No amount of free money is going to fix things.

I left that dump in 1999. I could see the writing on the wall. Didn't live in Detroit proper...Oakland Twp. Still, had to live around it.

Glad I left.

Leave while you can. It doesn't matter where.

Let's just say that the only thing that compares to seeing Junction City disappear in your rearview mirror is seeing the "Welcome to Ohio" sign as you're leaving Michigan!

LOL

Deetroit's been run into the ground for the past 60 years mostly by Democrats. Then the Government auto sap suckers (from both sides) voted to bail out the Big 3. Now, when it's time for the little/bureaucrat guys' pension bailout, the silence is deafening.Whistle

Poor Mayor Bing- I enjoyed his lil' afro bouncing, play making skills as he scored with the Pistons. Now the poor bas tard's broke and bald.

Best idea I've heard so far: Turn a large abandoned area of Detroit into a "Zombie Apocalypse Theme Park".

That'll never happen.

You'd never get zombies brave enough to go down to Detroit.

In the same week that Detroit announced its bankruptcy, a state board unanimously approved plans for a new hockey arena for the Red Wings -- a decision that has raised a few eyebrows among critics.

The new arena will be funded in part with $284 million in tax dollars.
