My very first one (not counting the Cohiba I had in Mexico on my honeymoon prior to knowing what I was doing).

Gifted to me this weekend. A Ramon Allones 2015 Limited Edition

It was starting to develop a little dusty white all over. Didn't look like plume; it was a little salty to the taste. Should I be concerned?

Always found Parti's to have a salty, crisp, almost citrus profile, but if the plume is Psilocybin you shouldn't be concerned at all. Enjoy!

Well Frank, the doc did put me on blood pressure meds six months or so ago.

Cacman, perhaps you're right bro. Maybe the wrappers are grown on the coast or something. It was a great smoke, I think it just sat next to the boveda a little too long. None of my other partagas are white at all.

From a supplier read on another board:

In the latest days, weeks and months we received plenty of info, news and rumours on what is happening with our precious Cuban cigars. With this email I would like to give you my personal opinion and some facts concerning the current supply:

1. Due to 3 bad harvests there is a huge lack of large wrappers meaning the large vitolas became scarce.
2. A large amount of Cuban cigars has been bought by Imperial Tabaco to prepare the sales of Cuban cigars in the US
3. Exponentially increasing Tourism in Cuba increased local sales of Cuban cigars which means export is reduced
4. Yesterday the US Government announced US Citizens can bring unlimited amount of Cuban rum and cigars back to the US (previously limited to 100 USD)

This results in the following:

1. Our importer can not supply Cohiba anymore for the coming months
2. Next to Cohiba; following cigars will not be supplied anymore for the coming months: Montecristo Eagle, Partagas E2, RyJ Wide Churchill, Hoyo de Monterey Double Corona & San Juan, H.Upmann Magnum 56, Trinidad Vigia

In my opinion this is only the beginning of a very difficult year to come and more vitolas will follow!

I do have to say it's worth every bit of aging. Seems like 5-8 years is the sweet spot at least for the aged cubans i've had.

Hah! Considering that I generally try to only smoke once a week and that I love a variety of non-cuban brands it makes it hard for me to go through a box, even half a box in any amount of time.

Numi and MACS turned me into a Cuban ho two years ago. Don't think I have purchased any non Cuban's since. Current Cuban stash equals a little more than two 48qt coolers. Small by most standards

I'm flattered that you would ask for a rec but I'm far from being a Cuban expert. Looking at this page alone I see several posters much more knowledgeable on Cuban's than I.

I have smoked a couple of Romeo and Julietta's that were gifted but have never purchased any. As far as the Monte's the only one in my stash is the petite edmundo. For the most part I have not pursued the Monte's due to their price point.

My primary Cuban's are:

Boli PC & CJ
HUHC
HU Mag 46
JL#2
Party Shorts
PSD#4
Punch Punch
RASS

I smoke a few others but the above are my go to cigars.

I'm sure some of the others will weigh in with better options than I have offered.

SLR DC - seem to be getting more flavorful, think this stock has about 1.5-2 years on it now. Good to see them transitioning as they were a little flat to start.

Oh I know. I went on a shopping spree in Italy, where there wasn't a Cuban above $12 after tax (including Monte #2, psd 4, etc.) Can't wait to see the damage the Canadians do to me.
