A recent Homeland Security Committee hearing on immigration revealed an alarming consequence of President Obama’s executive amnesty—that illegal immigrants with deferred status may be able to receive the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). Moreover, this person, who is here in the U.S. unlawfully, could be able to file an amended tax return for up to the last three tax years, possibly receiving upwards of $24,000 in tax credits.

Here's the full story:

And here I thought that the problem was that the illegals didn't pay taxes. Beer

I agree that it is BS that they should get a tax credit and potentially get money from the government. ram27bat

In MANY instances they DON"T.....a Mexican owned restaurant chain owner here in Indy is being made to pay over 5 million in taxes owed on over 22 million in profits for years 2010 - 2012. The only reason they were caught is an IPD officer who took his family to dinner @ one of these fine establishments thought something was amiss when he went to pay and the young lady left her register and rung him up on a different one out of sight....thus began the investigation. Can you just imagine how rampant this really is?

And on a separate matter it has also been determined ( by folks who work for the IRS here locally ) that MANY tax claims have been and continue to be filed by non citizen Latinos claiming fictitious children / nieces etc. on their taxes who have Never even stepped on U.S soil. Some returns have been for as much as $24 thousand dollars. The whistle blowers were told to DISREGARD the issue by their " higher ups "

Is there a higher incidence of tax evasion in Mexican owned restaurants as opposed to those owned by White Anglo Saxon Protestants? Also, is the restaurant you speak of a Mexican themed restaurant or some other theme, but owned by Mexicans?

I'm not sure what your point is and you always seem to want to argue ANY point I make. But just to satisfy your ass, it is a Mexican " themed" / food restaurant which IS also owned by Mexicans.....comprende'

You can continue to stand up for these law breakers if you'd like Anthony....I really don't care.

I'm done with you, you seem to think your the only one who knows **** around here and also believe those who don't see things in your perspective are wrong. I simply brought up a factual incident that is currently unraveling here....do I think they're the only ones trying to duck the taxman.....NO

Where did I "stand up for these lawbreakers"? I just wondered if it was a Mexican themed restaurant, or any themed, Mexican included, that was owned by Mexicans.

What am I arguing?

Since you are concerned with the level of satisfaction my ass is currently experiencing you may want to know I'm sitting on it at the moment.

I'll try to dig up the details of the case and post their names so you can put your mind @ rest. What are you arguing?
Why assume that I've not understood the situation clearly and am really NOT simply trying to soil an entire races heritage or behavior? Do I believe this is possibly a wide spread problem within this community....frankly YES, that being said the IRS and the way it conducts business leaves itself ripe for this kind of behavior IMHO. I'm pleased to hear your ass is resting comfortably bros Beer

You said you will try to post their names. Based on their name we will know their ethnicity?

Would it be correct to assume that you believe there is widespread tax evasion in the community of people of Mexican heritage?

You believe the IRS is responsible for this behavior you speak of because of the way that agency functions?

My ass says thanks for the beer.

Actually, it doesn't enjoy beer as much as it enjoys spirits. Some rum induced solids just waved waved it goodbye.

I believe there were three individuals thus far involved in this incident. I'll try to find the article.

It's funny you call ME a know it all, when I didn't even take a side on the issue at hand. How do you know I don't agree with your stance? (I do, by the way... I do not like anyone entering the country illegally, I think everyone here should pay taxes, and I think we need a better system than the IRS)

But you are constantly in arguments with different people. First Victor, them Abrignac, and now me.

But WE are the know it alls?

Um... okay.

Difference is....I'll say it s l o w l y so you can follow, I don't step in just to stir the pot like yourself. I don't give two **** if you like me or not and I do not consider giving my point of view as argumentative.....sorry. And let's face it, Victors ONLY reason for being here is to stir the pot.....swat the hornets nest etc and we both know it. If your personality traits more closely align with his....so be it, I think the guy is a tool. It's refreshing that you take the time to accuse ME of being argumentative without seeing the three of you to be the same. I have agreed with many things you've said in the past as well, on the subject of Victor....Can't stand the personna he puts out there.

Hell yeah you may as well jump on me too......anyone else????
Although I will admit I'm going through some tough times and have not been quite myself, I don't feel like that played into this conversation.

One of the problems I see occuring here....and it would seem often. Too many are TOO lazy to read an entire thread from the start but read what they want and then feel the need to jump in and participate without full knowledge of what's been said.

If you argue with one person it is probably coincidence. If you argue with two, you're establishing a pattern. If you argue with everyone... that's evidence it's you, bro.

again, Read the entire thread and then tell me who's argumentative. I simply stated a FACTUAL tax incident unraveling here in Indpls. and then Anthony decided to turn it into a bigotry laden line of question. It was HE who ASSUMED that I thought that only Latinos were guilty of tax evasion....when that is not the case @ all.

And lastly....if you do NOT find yourself arguing with Victor and his rather ODD worldview perhaps it is you who needs a look in the mirror. Moreover, I did not realize that the three of you consisted of " everyone " just a little more insight as to how self important some believe they are.

Anthony, in my original post on this matter I stated that this business was a Mexican owned restaurant and then you started in with your questioning. My bad I guess as I took that as you thinking I was somehow biased.

Cheating on taxes is pretty common in the restaurant business. There's a Polish guy down the street , runs a popular BBQ place.
Always has two registers open and pays most of his employees cash.

Yea but you didn't let her trick you into marrying her so she could get her green card. My wife reminds me constanly she never would have married my fat, ugly, poor ass if she didn't need a green card to escape the island.
