That's actually not accurate.
While I usually find the millions of "erg! Obama is trying to ruin americuh!" posts relatively light on accuracy... you CAN actually get more money back on taxes than you put in.

The Earned Income Tax Credit isn't a "refund" of taxes paid, it's essentially a disbursement of funds. In normal cases where ones tax deductions exceed one's payments the tax payment becomes "$0". But with an EIC the tax payment actually reverses and you can receive money from the government.
