Our defense spending has doubled in the last 12 years . A lot of it is pork barrel spending like the F 35 a 1.3 trillion dollar project .

We currently spend more on defense than the next 7 countries combined. Defense spending accounts for almost 20 percent of all federal spending — nearly as much as Social Security, or the combined spending for Medicare and Medicaid.

54 % of what the gvt. spends is on the military. 20 billion just for air conditioning a year when the war in Iraq and Afghanistan was on.
