Obama vetoes the Defense Authorization Act.

Why does this president hate America?

He always says he always has the best interest of our troops at the fore, yet he screws them at every turn.

He is going to make sure we get our ''comeuppance."

Yes, if the president signed a bill that would fund the military, the right would be screaming (sarcasm).

Troops will not receive paychecks and hundreds of thousands will be furloughed without passing a defense bill.

But Obama doesn't like that he can't close Gitmo in the bill and send the terrorist bastards into our own prison system.

So, rather than take care of our military personnel who sacrifice for our country, he will veto and fight to free the terrorists from Gitmo.

Bravo Mr. President... Bravo!

First time this bill hasn't been signed in 50 yrs.

You really need to get some better sources than the current crap which you are using.

“Our men and women are going to get paid. And if you’ll note that I’ve now been president for six and a half years, and we’ve had some wrangling with Congress in the past. Our service members haven’t missed a paycheck.”

baderl, from your own link (heritage, which I like):

"a reporter asked if he would veto the defense bills. Mr. Obama’s response was telling:

“Our men and women are going to get paid. And if you’ll note that I’ve now been president for six and a half years, and we’ve had some wrangling with Congress in the past. Our service members haven’t missed a paycheck.”

The president went on to give an artful non-answer about the importance of the long-term and investing in things like education and research. And while the president’s commitment to the troops is good and right, a veto of either the defense authorization bill or the defense appropriations bill could affect the troops quite negatively."

There ya go, I got it from the "current crap" you are using.

I got my info from the starsandstripes website posted AFTER he indeed vetoed the bill.

and this president would never lie to us (again) would he?

so, this veto could affect the troops negatively? or do you need to find a ''devil's advocate" source to try and prove your "point" that vetoing this bill won't do anything to put our military in any kind of risk?

Please, don't be ridiculous.
Do you really believe that the military will be shut down?
That they won't get paid?
Any other results of his not signing this bill will be short term, I'm sure.
BTW, the article that I posted was from July, the pubs knew that he was going to have a problem with this bill, yet did nothing about it.

Of course the truth is that we spend 9 times more on our military and the next biggest spender – China. We should be scaling back and stop wasting so much tax payer money.

Our defense spending has doubled in the last 12 years . A lot of it is pork barrel spending like the F 35 a 1.3 trillion dollar project .

banderl.. the fool in office has a problem with anything that the republicans will send to him.

So, just send the socialist fool what he wants and the citizenry be damed? Is that how this republic is supposed to function? Pass anything, "just to get things done?"

I don't want this ignorant fool in office getting his way and further ruining this country he hates. At least Bill Clinton would move to center at times and do the right thing.

This guy is a radical idealist that couldn't care less about the military.

Lets see if the republicans try and override the veto and if there are any democrats that have a spine in office.

Covfireman and Brewha, we are the world power, if we don't have the strong military, you think the panty wastes in Europe are going to do the heavy lifting?

This is the thing government should be spending money on, the defense of the country. But defense spending is dwarfed by the social programs this post Constitutional America has turned into.

The waste of taxpayer money is the welfare we are handing out to too many. How much does the food stamp program have to expand before you guys call out der leader?

Answer, it can never get big enough for you big government lovers.

The only thing you would ever want to cut would be the military, other than that, libs never want to cut a thing. gimmee gimmeee gimmeee

War mongering idiot.

Go crawl back into your faux outrage and quit picking up the tab.

If we didn't spend so much on creating endless wars all over the planet then perhaps the blowback of 9-11 never reaches our shores. Now due to everyone not paying attention we have swiss cheese for a border. Welfare, education, healthcare would all be paid for with the money we've spent in just the last 10 years on wars!

Instead of closing up the shop and letting those idiots kill themselves you want to jump in the middle and continue to meddle. We're not responsible for keeping the peace.

Yes...cut the military. We're not using them correctly anyways. Want to impress me? Use a tactical nuke in Afghanistan after we pack up. Maybe we have a stockpile of duds. Maybe they're past the freshness point. Let's light that candle and REALLY send them a message. Let's take out the poppy fields for good. That's why we're there anyways.

Welfare is a joke.... I agree there should be something to get individuals going through a tough time back on their feet, however whole generations have lived on the "system" for years.

Make them take drug tests, make them do janitorial work, **** make them do something.

Raising minimum wage will not help. There is a state that tried that already and those on welfare worked even less so they didn't lose their benefits. Pushing the increase welfare card for politicians is simply a way to buy votes from the low lives that plan to live on welfare the rest of their life.

Most people have an issue with Obama because of the things he has done in the past....

1- illegally negotiate the release of a trader in exchange for 6 terrorist
2- obamacare (enough said)
3- speaking at many topics like Michael brown, yet failing to speak on other topics like Kathryn Steinle

I could probably go on all day. The only thing I like about him is his sense of humor at some dinner speeches.

What foolish nonsense.

Hold hands with tonygraz and sing "kumbaya" and hug some trees and worry about how climate change is a bigger threat than any terrorists.

It would be great if we didn't have brutal dictators running other countries and some are madmen.
There is evil in the world and having the strongest military in the world protects us from those devils.

9-11 was our fault?

You are a moron.
Why not just go all the way and say that GW actually blew up the trade center buildings and fired a missile into the pentagon and blamed it on terrorists?

Russia is on the move, China is on the move, ISIS and IRAN.. and you want to cut back on military?

We currently spend more on defense than the next 7 countries combined. Defense spending accounts for almost 20 percent of all federal spending — nearly as much as Social Security, or the combined spending for Medicare and Medicaid.

Teddy if your afraid you hide I can take care of my own family's safety. You're worried about Russia, China, and Iran. All three have their economy collapsing but you're worried about them because it's what you're told by your party . You think the reason to worry about them is that they threaten " our way of life " . Keep drinking the Republican Kool-aid .

If we're going to have corporate welfare why not use it to rebuild our infrastructure? The industrial military complex has sucked enough out of this country.time to wean them off the government teat .

I forgot we all should get a free GM vehicle and the investment side of the banks should have been let to fail but those are 2 separate discussions .

How about we imagine the U.S. with less government intrusion and households can keep more of what they own, we unleash the free market system and watch the U.S. roll economically?

We have 100+ trillion in unfunded liabilities, how about the government pays for the programs it has, or axes them and we get our debt under control instead of all your "free stuff" that is never really free?

I'm not channeling him you idiot. Just borrowing his voice. As for our military...they kinda know what they're in for when they enlist. MAtter of fact Rambo, YOU should enlist! Take someone else's place. Save a son or daughter the misery of having their limbs blown off for a craphole that doesn't even know their name and doesn't want their Freedoms!

Ted Cruz is this you? Keep America safe by invading nations, setting up listening stations in almost every nation and keep the war machine running abroad? You have to be a real special kind of retard to buy that kind of crap. Just how unsafe are you? Should we notify authorities on your behalf? Do you need more medicine because you're very slow on the uptake? Can you show me where the Founding Fathers stated we have to spend at these levels to maintain our security or are you going to continue to talk out of your butt and rant about how insecure you are in your neighborhood in the USA?

teddyballgame wrote:

No. I'm positive they can coast for more than a decade with the current numbers and equipment they have. If not, bring it to the attention of our House and Senate and get a bill together. Why, if they draw down on Iraq and just leave...draw down on Afghanistan and leave...they'd be ahead. Seeing as how we STILL have troops in Germany...Italy...Korea...I think you should know that we're not leaving those places in the next 50 years! No, by deploying them to each and every corner the way you support...YOU'RE the one that wants to weaken them! Giving them no rest, no time to train, and no time to rebuild. Take your little war happy ass through a local VA hospital and start ranting there with your diatribe about not being secure and how we should kill more and destroy more. You pathetic excuse for a man.

Where are you getting the free socialist stuff from? Seriously? Are there voices in your head telling you that? If you think anything I've mentioned is free socialist stuff then you have the reading and comprehension of a two year old.

With all due respect, you are an idiot.

Teddyballgag...you're a jackass. Don't sugar coat anything with the way our politicians talk about each other. You wouldn't loan me a dollar or take my trash out to the curb so don't even pretend you'd show ANYONE any modicum of respect. You're a petty individual with illusions of grandeur. Stop watching John Wayne movies and playing Call of Duty. There isn't one thing that I've posted in your little thread that's idiotic! Not one. Yet, you're inventing crap, pulling it out of your butt and crying like a little bitch baby about America not throwing more War Parties in a country...any country to keep you safe and snuggled up at night. You're a selfish little prick that needs to get a grip on reality because you're a typing mental case!

+1

And nicely said my good Doctor.....
