While we're at it, we need to track the last legal owner of each and every three branch so we know who to blame when Little Johnny Moron picks up an oak branch and cracks Sonny Stupid's skull.

Law enforcement can't even track down their own stolen guns.
What makes you think they are going to have any better luck tracking down someone else's?

I figure it to be no different than the mutant registration on X-men. If you were a mutant would you register with the government?

I'm not paranoid, I just usually want the benefit of doing something to outweigh the risk or potential cost. If you can convince me of that I'm usually in. Implementing something like this just for show or just to do it is silly.

I've not seen anything suggesting this would prevent or even address any gun crimes and I do see a potential for abuse.

It seems many of you think I'm in favor of registration, but all I did was offer a reason why it might be done.

So, tony, yes or no? Are you in favor of registry?

I drew that conclusion based on the last sentence in post 10. I guess it could be read another way as well. Good to know you are not in favor of a registry.

Think
Been thinking about running an ad in da local paper asking people to voluntarily surrender their weapons to me... I might pretend to be from some made up agency or somethin... anyway, I might have some guns for sale soon... depending on how many stupid people are around.. Mellow

Only because of semantics. They would simply be taking something back that they feel should belong to them in the first place, and since they can't get a fair shake in the courts the formal definition of stealing does not apply to them.

Like the time you went into a gay bar and told everyone why sucking deek was fun.
Who knew you'd make a dozen new friends that night?

Aaaaand there it is! The proverbial "I know you are, but what am I?" retort.

A little added pizzaz with the P-town reference. So i guess you're getting a little better.

I feel compelled to point out that the only reason we are made to register our cars is so that in the country is invaded, the opposing army can confiscate them.

Except for the Prius.

No one would take those.....

Care are a revenue generator and shouldn't have to be registered either. Except for Chevys. They are built to kill.

Just read that chumlee was arrested and charged with firearms charges.

"Russell was arrested March 9 and charged with illegal possession of a firearm and numerous narcotics charges.

The firearm charge was because a person who unlawfully uses a controlled substance is banned from possessing firearms, the report said."

So he legally could own the guns but because he had drugs in the house there are arms charges? That's effed up.
