as a big movie fan, I feel that they have dissed me and are considering me a racist if I watch the Oscars. Do I need to boycott the Oscars also....

I understand the issue, and I understand that the Oscars & BET awards are apples & oranges. I don't understand why it is wrong to raise the question, particularly after two years in a row. If (I would say since) racism is still an issue in our culture, then it makes sense that the dialogue would also include the entertainment sector.

The census bureau lists blacks comprising about 12.6% of the population. I haven't tallied the list myself but I've read that blacks have won a similar percentage of Oscars, at least over the last twenty years.

In one of Will Smith's interviews about the movie "Concussion" he was asked if he would allow his son to play football now after doing the movie. He said he would tell his son he was OK with it (basically lie even though he is not OK with it) but that his mother Jada said he couldn't play. Just another example of him not having the balls to speak his own mind, but instead uses his wife as his mouthpiece.


I'm boycotting Basketball due to the lack of "white" diversity.
I'd consider boycotting Football too, but the Superbowl is coming up.

correction: Will Smith finally speaks in defense of his wife. He speaks well and retorts the "diversity" message. Phffft! Bet his wife made him make a statement LOL!

Think it's fairly safe to say the Committee didn't sit down and conspire to say "We are not nominating a single black person or movie". But instead the Committee judged each movie and actor's performance on it's merit.

Why would one pay $12/ticket to see "Compton" when we see all we need on the news with coverage like Ferguson, BLM, etc. for free?

Should we boycott the oscars if there is a two year period when only black actors are nominated?
