I know that anyone born into poverty can become self sufficient because I did it. People now make every excuse in the world why it's okay to take someone else's money because "they have too much, or more than they need". Our country was founded by men who did not like government, and certainly did not like socialism or the redistribution of wealth.

You reap what you sow, says the bible. No work? No eating. Nobody deserves something for nothing. NOBODY.
Being liberal doesn't make you smart, it makes you smug... just not sure why.

you should reread. what did they do with the 10% (or whatever %) of what was tithed?

Tithing was never forced and generational welfare would have been unfathomable.

What does this have to do with anything that I said?

What is a liberal?
I want to see if I fit the definition.
Maybe I'm just anti-republican.

The original post still makes me laugh. As if democrats have nobody who did something felonious, or lied, or cheated, or was a hypocrite about it.

I'm an unashamed fiscal conservative. As far as I am concerned our gov't should use our money to fund national defense, and infrastructure. I would be happy if they'd spend more on schools and offer free college and trade school, like England does... but they'd have to fund it by cutting all those other "free sh*t" programs.

Makes you laugh?
The third highest ranking federal government official was a pedophile.

Tithing was not forced, and the priests provided a service for what they received. I don't have an issue with helping people. I do it all the time. In fact, I just made 2 donations to goodwill, and I'll be making more.

I can't hate welfare completely, it fed me and put clothes on my back... but I also watched my household, and all those in the section 8 households around me, abuse it. It is rampant. The government should not be in charge of social programs.

I'm certainly not defending priests who preyed on kids, but A) the vast majority do not, and B) we were talking about the old testament, where the priests were allowed to take their food from the sacrifices tithed by others... which were supposed to be the good stuff, first fruits and fatted calfs and such. But they did the Lord's work which prevented them from sowing and reaping their own food.

MACS and Gummy, I was simply responding to a small part of a post. It wasn't about Sanders, redistribution of wealth, taxes, forced tithing, or the Welfare system,

it was a gentle suggestion to reread the Book since I felt it was misquoted as saying..."you reap what you sow, Nobody deserves something for nothing. NOBODY".

I am sure you are not against giving, my friends. Just felt a few words were lined up and interpreted incorrectly.

I ain't mad atcha Frank.

I know sometimes I am wrong, but to my credit I am willing to change my mind when presented with information that warrants it. I value hard work and independence, but I know not everyone is capable of it. I also have no issues with charity, I just don't think the gov't should be in that business. They're essentially buying votes with our money.

So why or how was your household abusing welfare?

FYI, never been on welfare, been on unemployment but I paid into that.

I believe that welfare should be a short term solution, maybe a year or two.

I don't disagree with you on short term, but again, gov't screws up anything they attempt and fraud is always an issue.

Working under the table, mostly, and not reporting the income was the main issue.

Charitable organizations often give little of what they get to their cause. When asked for a contribution, I request a financial statement and a list of the top highest paid workers on the charity. I have yet to get that list from anyone. The Cancer Fund of America spends all of 1% of what it takes in for cause items.

#68 if it is as you say then you should have left that place. I just wish you would have found a good one after. Most of my friends who left "the church" have done so because some one wronged them. I just try to encourage them to realize that it was a messy human who hurt them and not Jesus.

In my former short term stint as a church goer, I was assigned the task of going out and soliciting pledges from those who belonged or were known to attend the church. After the pastor of the church left to lead another congregation, I stopped going to church. After a decade or so of pastor changes, the church finally closed and is now for sale.
A Catholic church in a town I lived in had a building project and expected a certain amount of donations from every parishioner. For those who did not meet the expectation. a list was put up in the church lobby of their names and amount still expected from them.

This thread is about a Republican Speaker of the House who greatly enjoyed blowing teenage boys and this clown says that Liberalism is a mental disorder.

Probably has a Denny poster in his room to whack off to.

Lets cut to the chase, are you more concerned that he is a POS or a Republican POS? You would not be within a hundred miles of this thread if he were a liberal POS.

If you can find any instance of of Democrat Speaker of the house (Other than Nancy Pelosi) who liked to blow teenage boys, feel free to post. I'll be more than happy to contribute to your thread.
I'll stand by.

would you ever take a comment like Carib's to task? If not, why lecture Banderl?

In fairness, there is a different the level of hypocrisy here - Liberal don't care about LGBT other than to say leave them alone. The conservatives are out spoken against sodomy, homosexual extrusions, and (in this case) eating chain.

Of course he wouldn't, Frank.
That wouldn't fit his agenda.
Try to take the high road by calling them Republicans, yet they like to call a Democrat a Liberal, as if it's some kind of grade school cut down.
He doesn't know my politics well enough to call me anything other than I'm not usually a Republican.

Truthfully, I am pretty cool with Burner. Was just making a point to remind all of the unnecessary stuff such as Carib is posting as a way of pandering for membership with the majority here.
