Consider Hillary. She and her philandering husband define the Democratic party. Without them, one wonders in what direction that party would evolve. I'm actually very confounded that the rank and and file as well as the party elite would choose her. Billiary is in reality the polar opposite of their platform. The Dems have championed the idea of tolerance and equality for everyone. Yet, Bill has for many, many years apparently viewed women as objects to be taken advantage of. As a couple Bill and Hillary epitomize the elite, yet they constantly condemn them for the very same actions that they are notorious for.
Trump on the other hand has consistently demonstrated aversion to basic rights guaranteed citizens in the Constitution. As a businessman he has been very successful which would lead one to believe he is qualified to manage the business of the United States. But, I would argue that the business philosophy that has made him very successful in private business is contrary to what it takes to successfully helm a government. Government, unlike private industry can't sell off unsuccessful subsidiaries. Nor can she use the bankruptcy courts to mitigate a bad investment. I shudder to think what would sort of economic trend would result should the US Government tell it's investors to pound sand. The only saving grace is that Congress would hopefully act to thwart such foolish policies. In many ways, Trump is a known unknown.
So how did we reach this juncture? More importantly, where do we go from here?
