The constant disparaging of Trump.

I am not voting for Trump, but I am tired of everything he says being disparaged. Yes take him to task on some of what he says. But stop taking him to task on everything, when asked if his daughter was ever sexually harassed what should she do, I thought his comments were something a father might think. When he was given a purple heart he said nothing wrong.

I might not have a problem with it if he did it equally. I mean how can you say someone is the most qualified candidate from even your party if they can't qualify for a basic security clearance without being given special consideration?

Watched a British interview with Assad a couple of days ago... i think it was NBC maybe? The interviewer spent the bulk of the time trying to get Assad to say something negative about Trump... seriously pathetic...

I'm tired of people disparaging sarah palin too. Folks in here established how smart and how great she is years ago. Reading reality in the moment is a strength in here.

I don't agree with you, Spey...that comment was wrong....I know that everything he says needs context...and he's not politically correct...and he doesn't necessarily MEAN exactly what he says....but, he's not running for union steward...he wants to be president of the United States.....he's a buffoon...and maybe disparaged isn't the right approach, but I have no problem with criticism of everything he says in public....the way he handles the scrutiny is important, too

Seems that when it comes to making disparaging remarks - Trump is leading the way.

D, at first I thought he was wrong. Then I thought to have refused the purple heart given as a gift would have been wrong and insulting. At first I thought the words were inappropriate, then I thought, no, they are not the words I would use, but they are not negative. Though I certainly understand what you are saying.

I think he provokes it, actively participates in it and enjoys it. It may not be particularly useful in getting elected president but it's pretty hard to cast poor Don the Con as a sympathetic character.

Took me about a half second to figure out the classy thing to do would have been to ask the vet if he could be allowed the honor of pinning it on him again. Give the man his medal back and a another story to tell.

No, not at all. I which we all were extolling the virtues and promise of our candidates, rather than mud slinging.

But the GOP candidate plainly is setting the example. Ain't it fun to not be politically correct? Let's all just follow the GOP and say any damn fool thing that comes to mind - hell it doesn't even have to be close to true - as long as it feels good. Yee-Haw!

So you criticize Trump for making disparaging remarks and then in your follow up post make disparaging remarks about the entire GOP... let me guess, they started it?

By the way, politically correct and grammatically correct are two different things...

So you are suggesting that we of Cbid should set the example for Trump to follow?

It is a fair point. How can our leaders, or would be leaders, know how to act if we don't set an example for them. I mean it's not like they are the role models.....

So, ok, yeah - He stared acting like an a-hole and we all followed suit. But if America loves an a-hole then should we not emulate him?

But of cource the real truth of the matter is that Trump should be assailed in the press, forum and bathroom walls - he is a swinging cod that has a long history of doing more harm than good.

There - I send it and I'm proud.
Maybe I should run for office....

Are you suggesting that because he is on a bigger stage than you he should be following a set of rules from which you are for some reason exempt?

We either all have to be decent human beings or none of us do... your routine of holding our leaders to standards you won't follow is a dangerous hypocrisy...

Opel absolutely I do. I hold politicians and public figures to a different standard than the average joe on many things as do some of our laws as trump will find out if he tries to sue for some things.

I am saying that he is supposed to represent America, to be a role model, leadership by example. I, on the other hand, obviously do not represent America – or even the consensus of political views here. I do purport to show the liberal view – that trump is thoroughly flawed and distasteful.

Similarly we should hold our leadership and candidate to a higher standard than a pundit - or the rest of the unwashed masses.

I don’t follow you on your point about “We either all have to be decent human beings or none of us do”. People are anything but homogenous. And “good” needs “evil” that we might see it’s value.

As far as my standards go - I have only lowered by self to Trumps level to better communicate with his mentality, and those who support him. When in Rome…
