He is a Vizsla, sometimes called a Hungarian Pointer, they are considered the National dog of Hungary and were bred by Magyar tribesmen in the 10th century for hunting dogs. They do not shed very much and will run forever!
In January edition of Dog Fancy on page 54 the breed is profiled; however, they show some without having their tails cropped! The tail is cropped for show dogs and in most cases for looks in general!
