Double the asshats, double the fun.

I will alert my support staff.

Last 5 days in July, there will be a SoCal asshat visiting God's country. Missed my trip last year... need to double the ass-hattery this year.

Remember those 29 cent hamburgers and 39 cent cheeseburgers McDonald's used to sell? Downer cattle... cows so sick they couldn't walk... i started my career in a slaughterhouse micro lab working with a woman who was studying cancerous growths on these and dairy cattle that McDonald's was using... BSE/ Mad Cow Disease put an end to those practices... ba da ba ba bah... I'm lovin it... enjoy your lunch drafter...

In the 70's I was co-founder of the Anti-McDonald's league. The idea really never got a lot of traction but we had some fun. We tried to scare people off by feigning stomach illness in a McDonald's by noticeably mumbling........"I think this food is making me sick"....then one of us would clandestinely spew chicken vegetable soup on the floor while making barfing sounds. The classic one where was we did it right on the counter while making a complaint about the strange taste of the burger. It took special skill to not be seen slipping the soup container out of the jacket while bending over the counter.

Grilled some burgers trackside.

Opening gates in 30 minutes.

Won't be getting any rest till Sunday night. Gonna be wild. Completely sold out.

Better than that.

-Picked up my favoriate person in the world @ 12:25.
-Shared a 14 in meatball and onion pizza.
-3.1 mile walk through the Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve.
-Short catnap.

I could get used to this Not Working thing. Unlike what most athletes profess, it is about the money.

Smoke Monkey,
Only 1/3 of your normal distance. but happy with the effort nonetheless.

Well, yeah... we do what we must until we can afford to do what we want. The plan is to retire at 55. If I can afford to do it before that ya damn straight I will.

You'll likely retire before me, you young punk.

Then again, if I would have had the balls to put 19 years into the military, I might be able to retire at 55 as well.

The question is....how much money is enough? It seems to be more every year...

There's never enough. The last few years of my mother's life we were spending 14k per month on her care.

If you plan on dying quickly and quietly without getting sick first then retirement is a good idea. If you plan on having a debilitating disease (mental is really gonna cost you) then I'd recommend against retiring until you're about dead.

And then I hear of reports of some number like 40% of the adult population has less than $5,000 in retirement savings.

$14k a month.

Sobering.

I'd rather be on the receiving end of an Obama Death Panel.

I'm covered medically with Tricare for life. Since I put in my 20 years, my health care and prescriptions are paid for... mostly. I pay a very reasonable $570 a year and my co-pays for visits, which is also reasonable at $10-$12.

I got 7 years and a few months, 8trizzle... you can do it!

That isn't gonna cover something like a dementia care facility. At least not one you'd want to be put in or your lived ones would want to put you in.

Health care is good to have. You're a step ahead of a lot of the country. But I can tell you right now that Medicare wasn't going to cover any of my mother's care. I doubt other govt or veterans programs do either.

My retirement plan is to get on a stroke or heart attack. Or barring that a merciful bullet to the head.

It's important to have multiple plans.

Plan A: smoke a lot, drink moderately, minimal exercise. I think that gets me into the Heart Attack Zone. A Stroke would suck.

Plan B: I think I may be able to rely on an untreated Sleep Apnea that should take me out.

I don't know, Victor. If you are in a chitty, gubmint home with Dementia, do you know how chitty your surroundings are?
