So who here thinks the Mexican border wall has merit?

If it decreases drug traffic I will be satisfied. Decreasing illegal aliens crossing the border would be a bonus.

I thinks it's more a protective measure against terrorism and cartels than anything.

No qualms with the majority of Latin Americans coming in, they mostly Christian, will take any job, and have common beliefs/values.

It's just the santa muerta types, drug cartels, and muslims that we need extra security for. They need to do the same with Canada.

A physical barrier, coupled with increased patrol and real penalties should do something.

Muslims are our friends, they don't support radical terrorists, wearing burkas is to be respected. Wait, Obama is no longer president, I don't have to say stuff like that any more.

In reality, it's not practical...it's too costly, would hurt many Americans along the border, and may not be an effective deterrent. Other less costly border security measures have been shown to work: electronic surveillance supported by increased patrol presence especially.

As deterrents go, you can't beat the job Trump has done to drive down the number of illegal crossings: just call Mexicans bad names, say they are one cause of all our problems, ramp up fear and hatred on both sides...and throw a whole lot of em in jail while checking to see if they are legal or not...didn't cost a dime...

I would guess sensory turrets that detect bipeds and animals that walk on all 4s but with the ground contact points half way down the leg on the hind quarters would be significantly more effective.

The wall plus turrets would probably be highly effective. Most importantly though, automated turrets are really friggin cool n stuff.

He said day 1, easy, beautiful, huge. I'm glad about the 401s as I was under Obama. The job reports are similar too, they were just fake before he came in to office. President Tard deserves just as much credit as he gave.

The short answer to the question is the resolve of our government to enforce our immigration laws is even more effective. The wall means nothing without it.

I'm cool with him tweeting whatever the hell he wants. He leveraged the Russia thing in order to have the legislation for the wall pass through as quiet as possible. It was a brilliant strategy. I bet we'll see more "nonsense reporting" as he continues to rally congress to pass other laws.

This wasn't a "better of two evils" situation, for me, it was a situation of which candidate will do the most good.

The things I believe in, cutting foreign aid, dropping out of the environmentalist race, deregulating industry, and creating an even playing field for small businesses to be able to thrive and compete, leveraging an alliance with Russia to be able to keep Europe from trying to bully the US. Those ideals are what I stand for politically.

Even the border wall and the new border patrols are a great thing. Trump will increase the size of the Texas Navy so that it has to tools to combat the cartels and make the valley a safer place to grow crops and do business like it used to. Mexico as a whole is starting to calm down now that in office. The world as a whole is starting to calm down now that he's in office.

Even states are looking into voting healthcare into legislation, the way it should be. This federalised nonsense will eventually run us into the ground.

Could it be that people don't like him but they actually respect him?

I support it, of course. If your neighbor allowed his dog to crap in your yard... would you not build a fence?

Strong fences make for better neighbors.

Gun turrets, Predator drones and landmines.

Catapults are for AFTER we caught them.

You want transparency...there ya go. Except for the little signs...written in only English that you're getting ready to enter a death zone...no walls to spray paint, crawl over or fix. Just wide open spaces to gaze upon a target rich environment that willingly bitches about what we're thinking about doing on our southern border while they themselves have the same treatment on THEIR southern border...WITH prisons!!!

It's gonna be yuge!!!

And there you have it ... with the resolve to enforce the law, the wall isn't necessary ...

but, we have no such resolve ... the libs are in favor of an open border since the illegals have demonstrated the willingness to vote Dem come election day ... as a point of clear fact, the despicable Nancy Pelosi actually said in an interview that she was willing to go to the border and welcome the "undocumented immigrants" with open arms ...

From a www.Western Journalism piece:

We are now hearing about millions of green cards being ordered by the federal government as the Obama administration prepares to use executive action to thwart our system of government and get even more illegal immigrants into the country. This means more illegal votes, more power for Democrats, and more chances for the Leftist party to steal from our government’s coffers while they harass and intimidate the political opposition with the people’s own federal agencies.

Illegals cannot vote.

There is no credible evidence that illegals have voted in any substantial volume. Pulling old **** up that's been disprove in the past is just dumb.

Credible according to whom? let's face it...unless it's disseminated by a certain source...you'll never believe it anyway. After all your one of those who think requiring a DL or other picture ID to vote is " putting road blocks in place ".....while ALL THESE ILLEGALS seem to get one with no trouble whatsoever. Stop lying to yourself, they DO participate...the only Q is to what extent.
