Since there has been much discussion of the great "old" 101's, am wondering if anyone has ever had any of these yet.

https://www.cigarsintern...ichiban-maduro/2021634/

Also a Habano and Connecticut versions. These are obviously some sort of "second" or "leftover tobacco" offerings from Matt as they are not even mentioned on the 101 website.

Not likely to buy any right this moment with the closeout sale on the old ones sucking up my cigar $ and coolidor space, but once those deals are done, who knows, this might be a yard-gar/daily driver worthy purchase.

I'm curious about these also. If Matt Booth is still involved with Room 101, will he insist on the same blend and same quality as the original release?

Matt is definitely involved with the "reborn" 101 and have heard very good things about the "Farce." The Mothership blurb sure says they are from Matt and the new reiteration of the 101 brand, but I still wonder about them:

-super cheap price.
-bundle no box,
-bundle has the logo, but don't see "101" on it anywhere
-ONLY at CI and it's sister site, nowhere else.
-Nothing about these on Matt's new site, or anywhere else
-odd (for Matt & 101) tag line "Great Flavor." Huh? Really?

So at the very least some exclusive deal? Made just for CI and it's sister site?

Lots of questions....

I thought the Ichiban line came out several years ago??
Maybe this is a cbid, et al exclusive..........”smells” like a budget cigar to me...

Yup, there were "Old" Ichibans, but they were always "Ichiban this" or "Ichiban that" never just Ichiban. Matt's site says that one of his new partners is A.J. Fernandez and the CI gang has always had a close association with them with bulk shipping & pricing deals and exclusive cigars, so sure seems like a CI/CigarDot exclusive.

On the other hand, if I would be interested in any budget cigar, it might be one from Matt Booth. He has always seemed care about quality.

This alone will make me avoid the entire brand: "Titanium rings, gold jewelry, fine threads… Just a few of the reasons Room101 is synonymous with luxury and elegance. Many celebrities have been seen sporting Room101’s jewelry or burning their cigars, and now you can be among them." F**king lame.

Matt did take the Room 101 name with him when he left Davidoff. I personally have not tried any of the "post break up" stuff. I have heard good things about the newer stuff but we know how that goes. With that said I would like to know if these are any good since the old Ichiban was a huge favorite of mine. The thing that worries me is this price point. Never have I seen a post breakup Ichiban or any Room 101 this low even when Davidoff was dumping the warehouse. Hell, On deal day even the Uncle Lee's was what 74.95 per box post breakup? That was a damn good deal. This is what 2.50 per cigar? If this comes close to ranking with the old Room 101 stuff chit, rip their arms off to get em for sure. If not, for posterity sake, it would be a shame to see Matt put the Room 101 branding and Ichiban name on a chitty cigar.

Matt made his bucks in the jewelry business and then decided to start bending and selling cigars. Some of his original ones were (and still are) amazing. No doubt some people bought them - at pretty high prices - just for the status or because of the name and the fancy -and sometimes goofy - boxes and bands, but that didn't change the fact that many of them were outstanding. After the several mergers and consolidations of the companies he used to roll and distribute the cigars he left the business as he felt he no longer had the control the wanted to maintain.

Now he is back and has come out with several blends I have not yet tried but which have gotten good reviews. It would be interesting if he is truly behind these bundles and came up with a quality product without the extra bells and bling.

One of us needs to break down and buy a bundle and report, but right now I am buying as much of the old stock (Cool Arrows and MCs Roxxos) as I can afford at the MB3 place!

So you will avoid a brand because CI's goofball ad department cant write for chit Or is it because Matt had a background in something else prior to becoming a fine blender? Just curious... I mean hell, if I went by the ad's\descriptions on CI I would never have bought any brand of cigars. The only other place I have seen that is as bad when it comes to the ad write ups is JR's and their video/review ads are even worse lol.

Nah, I checked out the Room 101 website too. The whole thing just comes off as a 'brand' that caters to rich young douchebags.

"Bro, check out my new Room 101 skull bracelet!"

"Sick, bro! Did you know they make cigars too?"

"Sick, bro! We gotta try those!"

They are awful for sure. Everytime I seen a video with Nick Labigtitty or what ever his name is, I just wanted to reach through the screen and slap the piss out of him. What I always found funny about them was you never see a bad review. I always felt like someone needed to give Labigtitty a shaggy rag and some mineral spirits to wipe the DooDoo off his lips. It is like if he kisses any more ass on these brands, blenders that they sell, his lips was going to turn into Chihuahua turds.

Ahh, I got yah, It's funny because I have never even seen the Room 101 website. When one of the fellers on here sent me a chief cool arrow. Then another talked me into trying the Uncle Lee that was when I started trying out the other stuff that I could get my hands on. It's been history ever since. Seen a great deal of videos with Matt. He is one crazy Marine that is for sure.

I had my first Uncle Lee Cigar a few weeks ago and it was great. I can't find them anywhere.

I am wondering about the cheap bundles...

.
Chief Cool Arrow is still available, and at $4-$4.50 apiece depending on vitola (when they're on sale with free shipping).

Better than Uncle Lee, by most accounts.

Soon the Chief will be like the Lee is now, completely unavailable forever.

Load up now while you still can!

I wished I had bought 3 or 4 boxes back when they was available. The old ichiban I could get at my local B&M up until about 6 months ago. Now they gone. He still had some of the namakubi which was a while back. Not sure if he still has any of those left or not. It is not often I get to go now. Sucks not being able to drive lol.

While I liked the Uncle Lee, I’m with Puddin, I like the Chief more.
I also like the MC3 Roxxo more than I did the Uncle Lee.

I first got the Uncle Lee via a great combo deal at the Mothership with a 101 ashtray and cigar cutter. I sold the ashtray, cutter and the Uncle Lee box on eBay for more than what I paid for the bundle, so better than free! They have been gone for a good while now - both from my humi and any cigar sites and shops.

The Lee's were very good but I would rank them as follows:

1. Cool Arrow
2. MC3 Roxxos
3. Uncle Lee

Arrows (in 3 sizes) and the Roxxos are on a closeout sale rotation at the MB3 place. Get 'em while you can.

You sent me an OR Ichiban in a n00b trade, it was great and very unique. Never had the uncle lee or the namakubi but, I do have some MC3s and your address! Anxious

The 'new' Ichiban bundles description has the words 'long filler' conspicuously absent...

Betting they are 'mixed filler' at best...

On another site the ichiban Connecticut bundles the description reads

"One of smoothest Shade-wrapped bundles in the business, Ichiban's blend starts with a golden Ecuador Connecticut wrapper. These handmades are rolled dense with Dominican long-fillers that combine with the Connecticut wrapper to produce a premium experience that's both easy-going & wildly enjoyable. With notes of cedar & sweet hay prominent up front, there's a light spice on the finish and even a hint of vanilla in the fray. Grab a bundle and try Room 101's latest release today!"

I have yet to try em so who knows. I can't seem to find much else on them. My google has been broke for a year or two now.

I can't receive any mail at any address no more. The postal service revoked my mail privileges. Two days ago I got an order through the mail. Yeah, if you ever order a "Real Doll" make sure they nail the crate extra good. The mail man freaks out and reports you when the lid falls off and the doll falls to the ground. Especially when he sees that it is a half human half goat doll and her mechanical voice is looped in the "Do me Baaaaaaaaaaby" mode. He was trying to wrestle the 115 lbs in the middle of the street to hurry up and get it back in the box with all the neighbors watching. It was bad enough until one of the neighbors teen kids went to help him. The kid seen the shipping label and yelled out "This MFer got this thing used from Goodwill!" I guess he felt all the onlookers thought it was his and it made him feel nasty. So yep, they took away my address and, I am not allowed to own any farm animals now. Crying

I see that the Maduro and Connecticut listings do indeed have the words 'Long Filler'...

Hmmm...

Well regardless of long or short filler, you gotta believe these are some sort of seconds or left over tobacco from other blends just on the price and the fact that its a bundle from the guy whose M.O. was incredible boxes.

That doesn't mean they are bad at all, and, if Matt has a good-quality budget cigar, that would be a great thing.

Who's going to buy some??????

Please accept my apology, Mr. Wok, I'll try to make sure the lid is more secure next time I pack up a "toy" for you. It's just that, this job at goodwill is so high pressure and they're always yelling "hurry up slow azz"... guess I forgot to nail that box (no pun intended) properly. d'oh!

I also note a few other troubling items

-There are 101's "new" blend, the Farces here on Cbid in bundles of 20, again not like Matt or 101 to have discounting going on while still in active business, part of his whole cache' is the high-end exclusivity thing.
-There have been no updates to 101's Facebook page since last November.
-Likewise the 101 Cigar webpage has not been updated in a long-long time with still saying "coming soon" on the "where to buy" page.
-And the "Events" page only has past events from LAST Summer.
-Nothing regarding Matt or 101 on Twitter in a long time.
-I have messaged them several times with no response.

Could it be that 101 is going away AGAIN and this was a way to cheaply clear out the tobacco stock they already had????

What I want to know is did anyone wash it. Meh, not that it matters NOW but just wondering if I need to go get tested?

I know what you mean about a High Pressure Job. Them damn old ladies always chew my ass out when I give em the buggy with the wobbly wheels at Walmart when they come in the door. Causes me to stress and have stomach ulcers.

I forget to give the kids the smiley face sticker and they leave crying with Mama cussing me.

Manager chewed my ass out because I didn't look at the receipts and someone walked out with a 4k TV. When the alarm went off I didn't pay it no attention cause I just thought it was DrafterX walking backwards in the parking lot. Beep Beep Beep. You know.

I'm not sure how clean he got it, but I know Vincent tried to wash it... here's a log of the conversation:

Me:
F***, Vincent, what did you do to his doll?

Vincent:
I was dryin' it with my hands.

Me:
You're supposed to wash it first.

Vincent:
You watched me wash it.

Me:
I watched you get it wet.

Vincent:
I was washing it. But this stuff's hard to get off. Maybe if I had Lava or something, I coulda done a better job.

So, that's how it all happened... hope that test comes back positive, or negative, whichever one is better! Anxious

That might be an option for sure. I tried the hose pipe with the brass pressure nozzle but we have low water pressure here. I was thinking about getting one of those long paint mixers you hook to the drill and attaching some brillo pads to it. Then throwing on a buffer pad and some turtle wax to get the walls all polished up. I would have to be careful though. I don't want to accidentally rip out the wiring mechanism what works the kicking feature. Anxious

Yeah I would just have to make sure not to take too much off the sides. I don't want to have to strap on a 4x8 to keep from falling in. It is hard to maneuver with that on and trying to get that toe grab when ya really digging in. I atleast want to be able to walk out of my socks while going to town.Blink
