Or maybe rice

Could probably grow rice in my empty lot. It's had standing water since the thaw. I've managed to mow it down a couple times, but get stuck often. I walked barefoot through there to go talk to the neighbor two nights ago and was mid-calf in the mud. Would've lost my shoes if I was wearing any.

We haven't needed to water anything this year. I actually needed to drill a few holes through the side of the raised planter bed and put some PVC to the surface to aid in drainage so the plants get LESS water.

It's so damn wet.

I have to get up on the roof soon to power wash the algae off.

Picked 3 more ticks off the Milly dog today. Just gave her a bath with tick shampoo two three nights ago. Has a tick collar, and put Frontline Tick goo down her neck/back after the bath. Might have to go to doggy doc and get the prescription stuff. This is the worst year of ticks I've ever seen.

They been out, but don't seem too interested in pest control duty. They just hang out by the coop door and run inside if a damn moth flies into their area.

I threw a couple toads in their run when I was mowing. The last flock used to tear them apart. These ran inside the coop... I think it's partly the lack of a rooster to oversee everyone. Wife only wanted hens, but they're useless without a leader.

They aren't going to do anything until they get reparations.

Can't remember ever running the furnace during the summer, but here I am, running the furnace on the first day of summer.

Got down to 59 inside, couldn't avoid it.

A/C isn't getting much of a workout this year.

We got a few yellowfin early, 12-25 pounds, so when the captain said we had a big school 60-120 feet below us, I grabbed my Shimano Torium with 30 pound test line and dropped a jig down to them. As soon as I started to reel up... BAM!! I hooked and fought a 70-75 pound bluefin tuna for an HOUR... before he came undone.

My arms hurt, my legs hurt, my back hurts, and I have blisters on my hands. I have nothing to show for all that suffering. Nada.

I think I'm gonna go out again on Saturday.

It was heartbreaking. I saw the fish 3 times. He was huge. The final kicker? A buddy from work fought one for an hour and landed his. The first fish he has ever caught in his life is a 70-75 lb bluefin tuna.

That's like taking your fn driving test in a lamborghini. Any fish he catches now will pale in comparison.

I was using the wrong rod/reel and he wasn't. I'm happy for him but disappointed I did not land mine.

Wrong how so? Small set up, low gear ratio? How many blue fin onboard total?

We only landed 2 of the 5 bluefin we hooked. However, we had already landed a 25 lb yellowfin and a couple smaller ones. I thought that's what was below us when the captain said, "big school 60-120 feet below us". I grabbed my Shimano Torium and dropped a jig down. The torium has a max drag of 24 lbs, and I only had 30 lb mono tied to the top of 50 lb braid. The 8' rod is rated 15-40 lbs.

That fish took half my spool three times. Walked me around the boat twice and back and forth a number of times. He just would not get tired.

If I had grabbed my Avet Raptor with 32 lbs of drag, 65 lb braid and 50 lb fluoro, I could have wore his ass out. That 7' rod is rated 65-200.

I simply grabbed the wrong setup, thinking the fish we were in were a smaller grade of yellowfin, not the big boys.
