seems that some large gathering areas/conference rooms/visitors centers inside the buildings have been reserved as rest areas to accommodate them...the numbers of soldiers assigned to protect the Capitol has been reduced...and will be 7,000 until end of month

Nice try.

Imagine dropping everything in your life and sent to swamp city to only find out the Dems wanted to use you as a photo-op, and then cast you aside to a parking garage.
They should leave the barbed wire and stuff up all year round, it's fitting decor for the new administration.

I saw that article and see that you didn't read it thoroughly.... I actually used that piece...here's the relevant part I mentioned in my post, that you didn't take the time to read...

"The National Guard continues to assist and support the U.S. Capitol Police. As Congress is in session and increased foot traffic and business is being conducted, Capitol Police asked the troops to move their rest area. They were temporarily relocated to the Thurgood Marshall Judicial Center garage with heat and restroom facilities. We remain an agile and flexible force to provide for the safety and security of the Capitol and its surrounding areas," the National Guard Bureau said in a statement."

one guardsman, who obviously didn't like the decision, and may not have known how the decision was made, was quoted near the beginning of the article, and said this is how the Biden Administration treats us...

Spey, I know it wasn't right to put the National Guard in the parking garage for rest breaks...even Biden himself denounced it and said it would be taken care of...

https://www.military.com/daily-news/2021/01/22/biden-calls-national-guard-chief-after-troops-briefly-ordered-take-breaks-garage.html

it just seemed irresponsible, and politically calculated for some cons to pick out that item and run with it as an anti-Biden bash.... blaming it on the Biden Administration based on one National Guardsman's opinion about why they ended up in the parking garage is just an example of how the facts don't matter to some folks when a political point is to be made: see...lookit that...Biden hates the US Military!!!

do those folks know his son served in the National Guard? and that Jill Biden visited the troops and brought them cookies while thanking them? facts...don't matter...

it's the same old same old, like the "Presidentin Be Hard" thread that was a daily reminder of how the cons here despised Obama and made up all kinds of stuff to give themselves a safe and warm fuzzy space to commiserate in and share how tough life was under a lib President...

Speaking of a party...

In a Completely Unexpected Development, Biden Admits His Biggest Campaign Promise Was a Lie

Breaking News: Joe Biden is a liar.

That’s a fact that’s been common knowledge for the majority of his career. Sure, he lies in a way that is acceptable to the beltway cocktail circuit, but he lies nonetheless. His lies are also far more consequential than most, usually dealing directly with major policy concerns.

Case in point? Biden is already admitting that his biggest campaign promise was a complete scam. Remember when he claimed he was going to “shut down the virus” if elected? Yeah, about that.

[email protected]: "There is nothing we can do to change the trajectory of the pandemic in the next several months."

https://redstate.com/bonchie/2021/01/22/biden-admits-his-biggest-campaign-promise-was-a-lie-n314933

Meanwhile ex-President Trump has announced his plans and they don't include running for office. He's stated that he will spend the next 2 years seeking meaningful election reforms for this nation. Can't leave it up to either party at this point. They're happy with the mess.

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Think

US President Joe Biden on Friday appointed Rob Malley as envoy for Iran in a move that signals Washington's willingness to engage with Tehran despite "who complies first" obstacles to a swift return to the nuclear deal.

White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki confirmed media reports of Malley's appointment at a news briefing on Friday.

A seasoned diplomat who was the chief US negotiator in talks that led to the 2015 nuclear agreement, Malley had faced opposition from conservatives and foreign-policy hawks since rumours of his nomination began to emerge last week.

More from same article...

"It's a positive sign from Biden - that he's really willing to revitalise American diplomacy. For too long, US foreign policy has been militarily very muscular, but diplomatically very weak," Sina Toossi, a senior research analyst at the National Iranian American Council (NIAC), told Middle East Eye.

US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said the Biden administration was looking to address broader issues with Iran, including the Islamic Republic's ballistic missiles and what he called "recklessness" and "sponsorship of terrorism", but he stressed that restricting Tehran's nuclear programme remained a priority.

"From our perspective, a critical early priority has to be to deal with what is an escalating nuclear crisis as they move closer and closer to having enough fissile material for a weapon, and we would like to make sure that we reestablish some of the parameters and constraints around that programme that have fallen away over the course of the past two years," Sullivan said at a virtual appearance at the US Institute of Peace on Friday.

Toossi, of NIAC, said the "humiliations" that Iran had faced in recent years - including the US departure from the JCPOA, the killing of top Iranian general Qassem Soleimani and the assassination of nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh - make it difficult for the Iranian government to take the first step towards reviving the JCPOA.

He also stressed that it was Washington that nixed the deal, not Tehran. Iran is set to hold presidential elections in June.

"Biden is much better positioned to make a first overture, humanitarian overture, Covid relief, approving this IMF loan for $5bn, allowing Iran to access some of its frozen assets abroad to make medical purchases," Toossi said.

"That is a politically sellable thing. But for the Iranians, there has to be an understanding of how hostile the political situation there has become against negotiations with the US... for many legitimate grievances with the Trump era."

All of this was right there on his webpage when he was running for President. People saw it. So, "dealing" with a nation that chants "Death To Israel" and "Death To America" is "BUILDING BACK BETTER"? Was that for the Swamp or us? So far it looks like the water level is rising.

Latham's Nicholas McQuaid Picked for Leading Role in Biden DOJ's Criminal Division

McQuaid, named acting leader of the U.S. Justice Department’s criminal division, earlier spent more than five years as a federal prosecutor in the U.S. attorney’s office for the Southern District of New York before joining the Obama White House in 2013

Nicholas McQuaid, a former federal prosecutor in Manhattan who served as a White House lawyer during the Obama presidency, has been named the acting leader of the U.S. Justice Department’s criminal division, a role that will come with oversight of the Biden administration’s early white-collar enforcement efforts and the ongoing crackdown on coronavirus-related fraud, according to people familiar with the move.

How do you crater the American economy?

Shuttle off jobs and add more to the unemployed numbers already high by eliminating the pipeline, ending the wall and oil exploration of course!

What's Plugs O'Biden do for $hits and giggles? Why, he doubles down and eliminates 27.4 billion dollars in budget cuts while he's trying to ram a 1.9 trillion dollar of his own coronavirus bill chock full of goodies by withdrawing 73 proposed rescissions put forward by the Trump administration.

Janet Yellen’s Ethics Agreement is Barely a Month Old and She’s Already Breached It.

President Biden’s Treasury Secretary – Janet Yellen – signed an ethics agreement on December 29, 2020. By the end of January, she had already broken it.

“The purpose of this letter is to describe the steps that I will take to avoid any actual or apparent conflict of interest in the event that I am confirmed for the position of Secretary, Department of the Treasury. It is my responsibility to understand and comply with commitments outlined in this agreement.”

Within two weeks of the Biden regime taking power, however, Yellen was embroiled in an ongoing scandal surrounding GameStop shares and the companies who sought to profit by billions by first short-selling the stock, then attempting to lock retail users out of apps like Robinhood.

Yellen, 74, was described by Press Secretary Jen Psaki as, “monitoring the situation.” Psaki actually said:

“Well, I’m also happy to repeat that we have the first female Treasury Secretary and a team that’s surrounding her. And, often, questions about market we’ll send to them. But our team is, of course — our economic team, including Secretary Yellen and others, are monitoring the situation.”

But Yellen took hundreds of thousands of dollars in speaking fees from entities such as Citadel, one of the hedge funds seeking to benefit from manipulating the market while others are locked out.

In fact Yellen’s ethics agreement specifically mentions Citadel, which she took nearly a million dollars from in recent years.

Section 6 of her ethics agreement states that Yellen must receive a written authorization to participate personally and substantially in any particular matter involving parties such as Citadel. But Psaki insists Yellen is already dealing with the matter, and “monitoring the situation.” This falls under the description of “actual or apparent conflict of interest.”

Furthermore, Section 7 states:

With regard to each of these entities, I will not participate personally and substantially in any particular matter that to my knowledge has a direct and predictable effect on the financial interests of the entity until I have divested it, unless I first obtain a written waiver, pursuant to 18 U.S.C. § 208(b)(1), or qualify for a regulatory exemption, pursuant to 18 U.S.C. § 208(b)(2). I have verified that I will be able to carry out the divestitures within the timeframe described above.

Whichever way you slice it, Yellen appears to be in some serious trouble. If only Republicans on Capitol Hill would stop just waving Democratic nominees through and actually hold Cabinet nominees and appointees to account, we might see some action.

I just don't remember this happening in the last administration. We were lied to incessantly by the media and even when proven to be lies they told more so is there a particular former cabinet member that did this?

Also, I haven't seen a single decent thing 46 has done yet. Did all of you vote for a leader that would lead by executive order? 47 so far in a week. That's a record.

Seeing as how the jokes write themselves here at Club 46 and everyone is in a chuckling mood...did you hear the one about wearing 2 and 3 facemasks? Don't worry. Dr. Fauci said already it did and did not matter!!!!! Oh, the jokes do in fact write themselves in DC now!

Anyways, where were we...Oh yes, Sorry, but the "devil is in the details". Gotta read the fine print and see what's baked in that cake. While everyone is cheering for 46 and they have to keep the barriers up from the throngs of fans clamoring to get a glimpse of the now famous blonde haired legs and his doctor wife he's been scribbling away feverishly because, well that's what dictators do...they dictate. In Xiden's case...so far 47 times. That's a record. So without further adieu, lets take a lil peek under the hood of Executive Order 13992 shall we?

https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2021/01/25/2021-01767/revocation-of-certain-executive-orders-concerning-federal-regulation

Sounds nice. Rolls off the tongue eloquently. Has an air of sophistication and intelligence that eludes the signee's IQ. Why one could argue and have valid points that indeed someone else did in fact craft these EO's! What do they do though?

Well, this piece shows precedent and a roadmap into the logic that is now behind the Resolute Desk.

Unfortunately, one of President Biden’s first acts in office was to initiate the reinstatement of this corrupt practice. Not only does it allow presidents to circumvent Congress’s constitutional authority over all government spending, but it also allows them to enrich political allies unjustly with money they have no business collecting. It looks, walks, and talks like a graft in a fancy suit.

The Obama-era Justice Department had been using this underhanded technique to transfer nearly $1 billion to leftists in lawsuits against large companies such as Bank of America and Citigroup. Republicans in Congress documented the arrangement, deriding it as a “slush fund,” and attempted unsuccessfully to ban it permanently with a statute.

Among the activist beneficiaries of the practice during the Obama era were the National Council of La Raza, the National Urban League, and the National Community Reinvestment Coalition.

Left-wing organizations actively lobbied to become the beneficiaries of such payouts in a March 2014 meeting. Bank of America was actually able to reduce its overall obligation due to settlement terms that permitted it to count each dollar donated to nonprofit organizations as $2 toward their settlement.

Nor were Justice Department officials even-handed about what sort of groups could receive the funds. Documents unearthed by the House Judiciary Committee in October 2017 show that Obama administration officials had been deliberately going out of their way to prevent companies from making their settlement donations to conservative nonprofit organizations. One official specifically mentioned the need to prevent money from going to the Pacific Legal Foundation, which provides pro bono legal help on certain issues such as property rights.

Biden, newly installed in the White House, understands that he has debts to repay. Many of the same groups that helped Democrats’ get-out-the-vote efforts in 2020 are now standing at his door with hat in hand, demanding a piece of the pie. But whatever policy favors he intends to do for them, and whatever norms he destroys in order to placate them, he should not be giving them money that rightly belongs to taxpayers and to the victims of corporate wrongdoing.

Anyone care to guess who is going to get paid? Oh, don't worry...you proles will get your little stimmy checks...settle down...I know you have to dump more cash into your Robinhood accounts...anyways...the money...won't be going to YOU! If D's control the House, the Senate and the WH, why is Uncle Joe having to use EOs to get things done. Why not have Congress pass the stuff into law the proper way? I mean, they can impeach DJT in 8 minutes, surely they can rush a bill through for any one of the 20+ EOs Biden has signed...

In Hard-Hitting Press Conference, Press Demands To Know Biden's Favorite Disney Princess

WASHINGTON, D.C.—In a brutal press conference this morning, courageous journalists asked hard-hitting questions of the incoming administration. In one particularly tense exchange, Press Secretary Jen Psaki was forced to reveal President Biden's favorite Disney Princess.

"Please, Miss Press Secretary, Please! Please!" asked CNN correspondent Kaitlan Collins. "We need to know President Biden's favorite Disney princess! Is it Belle? Or maybe Jasmine?" she said while waving her hand and jumping up and down.

"Wow, what a fantastic question," responded Psaki. "I haven't asked the President that, so I will have to get back to you. Whoever it is, I'm sure his favorite is an empowered woman of color."

Undeterred, the press pool continued to follow up on the question, demanding a clearer answer.

"OK, fine," responded a slightly frustrated Psaki, "It's Moana. His favorite is Moana."

"NO IT'S NOT!!" came a muffled voice from behind the curtain that sounded a lot like Joe Biden. "My favorite is that one with all the hair! Rappatootie! Rattatatpunzle! Refunzle! Whatever her name is! Hey! Let go of me! Where are you taking me?"

There was the sound of a scuffle from behind the curtain and the voice faded away.

As the press conference resumed, journalists continued to grill the Press Secretary, asking further questions like:

"Does President Biden prefer puppy kisses or kitty cuddles?"
"Team Edward or Team Jacob?"
"So... does President Biden like being President?"
"Who is his favorite ninja turtle?"
"Gryffindor or Hufflepuff?"
"Can I go to the bathroom please? I’m sorry, MAY I go to the bathroom?"

Journalists everywhere have praised Biden's new press conferences as "A welcome return to civility and truth."

The New York Times also praised the press conference and ran a 12-page in-depth report on why Biden's choice of Moana as the best Disney princess is brilliant.

So refreshing!

Damn it! The headlines are so believable it's now art imitating life imitating a dog at a fire hydrant. Damn the BabylonBee to hell!

My only thought as to why is that he is trying to shield them from responsibility so they will fare better in the next congressional election in two years. Historically, when one party controls both houses and the WH, they get creamed in the next congressional election cycle.

Dr. Ron Paul explained today:

This doesn't surprise me one bit since Whig and Libertarian is on an up rise... I hope...But really dropped the ball in capitalizing on the chaos that the dems and reps created in wake of their folly. This may have been their last chance to step up to the plate. Even so, they still must impose a threat to the long standing rule that the two parties have had over the political system or they wouldn't be vehemently trying to discredit it as a legit alternative.
Here is a quote from wiki concerning libertarian party
"Libertarianism (from French: libertaire, "libertarian"; from Latin: libertas, "freedom") is a political philosophy and movement that upholds liberty as a core principle.[1] Libertarians seek to maximize autonomy and political freedom, emphasizing free association, freedom of choice, individualism and voluntary association.[2] Libertarians share a skepticism of authority and state power, but some of them diverge on the scope of their opposition to existing economic and political systems."

Most people don't realize the dems and reps have ultimately become the same team. One takes the high road and the other takes the low road, but the both end up in Kilarney.

Forget telling your kid that anyone can grow up to be president, It has been established that every president from Geo Washington up to present have been related and direct descendants of the king of England ... John, the Magna Carta guy.... Can even the dumbest person think that's a coincidence?

I was hoping Ross Perot would break the cycle, but he wavered under the pressure... bummer.

Get ready for "Kids In Cages Part II", except its not called that. It's called "overflow facility for unaccompanied migrant children apprehended at the US-Mexico border"

https://www.cnn.com/2021/02/02/politics/migrant-children-facility-immigration/index.html

Think

That's odd.

Oh well. The throngs of "Build Back Better" are getting it. Isn't it awesome?

Guys, they have a gazebo...it's alright.

An increase in illegal immigrant minors crossing into the United States from Mexico is evidently forcing the government to reopen a costly and short-lived residential shelter as an overflow facility. With a capacity of about 1,300, the camp is situated in the remote southwest Texas town of Carrizo Springs just 45 miles from the Mexican border. It operated for only one month in 2019 before the population fell to just 100 and the Trump administration shut it down after enduring heavy criticism from the left for opening it in the first place. At its peak, the shelter only held about 200, which means it was a huge waste of taxpayer dollars as is the case with many government projects.

The feds dedicated $300 million to open the residential shelter in the summer of 2019, according to an announcement posted in the Federal Register. The money flowed via the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), a well-funded branch of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) charged with providing care to illegal aliens under the age of 18, classified as Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC). “ORR has been identifying additional capacity to provide shelter for potential increases in apprehensions of Unaccompanied Alien Children at the U.S. Southern Border,” according to the July 1, 2019 Federal Register note. “Planning for increased shelter capacity is a prudent step to ensure that ORR is able to meet its responsibility, by law, to provide shelter for Unaccompanied Alien Children referred to its care by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).”

A San Antonio-based nonprofit called BCFS Health and Human Services, was contracted by the government to operate the Carrizo Springs facility, classified as an “emergency shelter” with classrooms, soccer fields and a gazebo. Less than a month later, HHS revealed that the last group of UAC were to be discharged and the Texas camp would be closed. “HHS will retain access to the Carrizo Springs site for temporary influx as HHS considers options regarding its future use,” the agency wrote in a July 30 2019 announcement. “HHS is mindful of the vulnerability of these children and is committed to providing for the safety and wellbeing of children in our care.”

And then there were 6.

https://ago.wv.gov/Documents/2021.01.27%20Letter%20--%20President%20Biden.pdf

Six states that had their Attorney Generals send letter to the White House that they've been put on alert. This will not stand.

Hopefully more states will join. After all it was those puny 13 that started this thing.

Biden put the brakes on Musk

Biden cancels Elon Musk's adventures in space

New president is making his space policy increasingly clear: America will remain grounded for the time being

The United States is in a titanic struggle with the People’s Republic of China for the dominance of space.

Although the Americans have been to the moon and sent multiple, advanced probes to the surface of Mars, since the end of the Cold War, U.S. space policy has languished in neutral. Due to this, new competitors, namely China, have arisen to challenge the dominance of the Americans in the ultimate strategic high ground of space.

China has grand ambitions for space. Not only does China plan on beating the Americans to the Martian surface by the end of the decade, but Beijing wants control of the vital orbits around the Earth. By controlling these orbits, China’s military would enjoy significant advantages over the American military. Beyond that, China plans on strip-mining the moon for valuable resources.

The Americans, though, have always had a silver bullet in its competition with China for space dominance: a vibrant and innovative private sector. Specifically, the growing number of private space start-ups, such as Elon Musk’s SpaceX.

Thanks to his reusable rocket design, Mr. Musk’s company has already cut down on launch costs by a staggering 40 percent. SpaceX insists that it can cut those costs down further. What’s more, SpaceX rockets are entirely indigenously produced. And as the ongoing race to Mars between the United States and China intensifies, Mr. Musk’s new deep space reusable rocket Starship, might just be the vehicle that gets American astronauts to Mars before China can get its taikonauts to the Red Planet.

Certainly, the Starship reusable rocket is unproven. In another America, this experimental craft would elicit wonder and its development would be encouraged. The Trump administration exhorted SpaceX to vigorously move ahead with its Starship program.

The United States, however, has a new president. And President Joe Biden is making his space policy preferences increasingly clear: America will remain grounded for the time being.

On Jan. 28, SpaceX was set to put its Starship rocket through another test in the blue skies above Texas. The objective of the test was to get the massive rocket up to 12.5 kilometers — about seven miles — above the Earth and then spin the giant rocket around so that it could make a vertical landing.

Sadly, the visionary goal of getting Americans to Mars first came crashing down when the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) which, under the Trump administration had allowed for SpaceX to conduct their important test flights, ordered Mr. Musk to cancel the Starship prototype test.

The FAA did not cite its reasoning behind ordering the cancellation of the launch. Many have speculated that the cancellation was brought about due to safety concerns. After all, in December 2020, SpaceX did a test of the experimental rocket. The Starship prototype made it to a height of 41,000 feet. Once it reoriented itself, in order to allow for the rocket to land vertically, the great silver spacecraft promptly did a bellyflop that ended in a massive explosion.

Despite this, SpaceX learned many valuable lessons from the December failure that were to be applied to the Starship launch in January. In science, the only lasting failure occurs when one does not test a new idea or hypothesis. This axiom is especially true in the context of the new space race between the United States and China.

It’s likely that the FAA’s decision to cancel the launch is part of a wider Biden administration effort undo the Trump administration’s vibrant space policy. Plus, former President Trump’s space vision was explicitly aimed at countering advances made by China in space. It is unlikely that the Biden administration seeks to continue that policy, as the Biden team attempts to stabilize deteriorating relations with Beijing over the next few years.

Concern over Mr. Musk’s Martian intentions is likely another factor for the FAA’s cancellation of the Starship launch. Last year, Mr. Musk indicated that any future SpaceX Martian colony would not be “ruled by Earth-based laws.” The problem for Mr. Musk is that SpaceX has been awarded lucrative contracts by the Earth-based U.S. government. If SpaceX were to create a colony on Mars, because of the company’s contractual relationship with the U.S. government, Washington very much expects that colony to be an American endeavor.

Lastly, Mr. Musk has been publicly supportive of the recent “GameStonk” controversy. A group of anonymous, individual investors on Reddit decided to engage in a little activism by inflating the stock price of Gamestop, a video game retailer. Melvin Capital, a storied Wall Street investment firm, was forced into bankruptcy by this move (they took the other side of the bet, attempting to short the Gamestop stock).

The “GameStonk” event was so significant that the Biden administration is vowing to prevent something similar from happening again. Congress is even getting involved. Because of Mr. Musk’s prestige and his vocal support for the Redditors who helped to take down Melvin Capital, it is possible that the Biden administration was punishing Mr. Musk by canceling the Starship launch at the last minute.

It is not only Mr. Musk who suffers from the FAA’s cancellation of the SpaceX test flight. We, the American people — and the entire effort to beat China to Mars — suffer. The Biden administration’s decision to increase regulations on the private space launch services sector and slow down their operations, as evidenced by the recent Starship launch cancellation, will only help China in its ongoing mission to defeat America in the new space race.
