Absolutely! I put a box of matzahs in a ziploc bag after I opened them, and they were good for weeks.

Pretty sure the "plastic" wrap on boxes and mazos are cellophane which breathes a bit. I just slit the outer wrap for better air/humidity exchange.

Ziplock bags don't breathe. Back in the day of my accumulation stage, a respected member here gave me some advice for ageing. Get the cigars at the appropriate RH of your desire, seal them tight in ziplock. Hide them away and forget about them. Burp the bags every couple of months now and again to let any off gasses expel (depending on how fresh the cigars are).

Then buy more cigars to keep the cycle going

Who eats this $hit? (transparency... I'm not a fish fan but if I had to eat fish, I'd starve if the only choice was from a jar or a can).

I am that guy who eats this $hit...with white horseradish...yum.
But it has to be in broth, not the crap/carp in the aspic grossness.

Hmmmm….
Back long ago when I would on occasion, have too much alcohol (usually Scotch back then), my aunt, RIP, gave me this cure:
Pickled herring and onions (in the glass jar)
A large fresh salted pretzel
A chilled wheat beer

It’s rough to think about when you’re fighting off a visit to the porcelain throne to pay homage to “RAAALLPPHHH!!!!”
But it does the trick…

The problem is when she doesn't age well but the plastics remain the same. It's just weird.

Its not plastic... it is cellophane which breaths. Cigars are wrapped in boxes and 5 packs for years in this stuff at some facilities with no issue. don't over think it. if you are not ready to smoke them, leave them how they came, add them to your humi with appropriate humidification and move along.

Does Matzoh ever really go "bad?"

I mean, it basically starts out life "bad" and just stays there..
