Called out sick today to bring my kid to the dentist. Getting his wisdom teeth removed. I feel like this is going to be one of the days where I'd rather be at work.

EARLY morning wake-up to take my niece to a community psych center for her initial one-hour appointment for depression and anxiety. She has Medicaid, which provides no choice for a private psychiatrist. My sister wouldn't take of fwork for this so it kept getting put off. Total disregard for her own daughter's health...

The rest of the day will be spent with my wife as she has the day off!!!

Four day vacation to Cape Cod in two weeks. Got to call Frank to see if he can meet up...

I made a Hawaiian pizza for lunch. I was multitasking and forgot the pineapple.

So I’m having a Canadian bacon pizza. It is good.

Fall soccer kicked off with the oldest yesterday, and kicks off with the middle kid tomorrow which I'm helping coach. Let's hope it's a good season and get these 5yo to enjoy soccer and learn to listen and play as a team.

Good luck with the team Coach!

I don’t think I could coach that young of a team. Don’t have the patience for them but give me a bunch of 8-9 year olds, where strategy starts coming into play and I can do that. Plus, teaching them technique is easier since they’re stronger and motor skills and attention span much better.

Have fun though. Our son said he really enjoyed the years I coached him but he didn’t tell me that until he was in college.

Evening Ram. Wish I could have a donut...

I'm trying to drop 15 lbs (again). Started at 195, target is 180 or lower if I can. 193 today. Glucose has been 103 and 107 last 2 times I had it checked. Not good since both parents had type 2 diabetes. A1C is still in the 5's but I don't like the glucose being over 99 while fasting. Looking like the start of insulin resistance.

So... low glycemic meals, avoiding sweets, no alcohol (not forever, calm down!), going to start weights again in a week or so. I already walk an hour every day with Tank and jog 3-4 times a week.

Eating healthier is going to have to be the new rule. Otherwise I'll just pork up again, like I always do.

I ain't obese or nuthin'... just don't feel right. https://imgur.com/a/icbBk5O

Keep up the good work, bruddah. I've been ignoring it and just eating whatever the hell I want. Can't do that with my family history. Not if I want to stay off medications.

Wednesday's steak dinner was the last "eat whatever I want" meal I'll be having for a couple months, I think.

looking good, MACS....stay active and eat and drink sensibly most of the time and you'll do fine...not even at pre-diabetes levels...I'm on two meds (both at half strength doses) and can't get those levels...

I could go for a nice steak right and baked potato about now but it's not gonna happen. It's too late. Maybe I do some this weekend I'll have to check the freezer if we have steak in there. My preferred cut when shopping for steak is NY strip. I don't like to freeze it, I buy it and cook it within a couple of days.

Then again, a nice shaved steak and cheese with some hot peppers on a sub roll and a side of fries sounds good too. As I'm thinking about it, steak tips and roasted potatoes fits the bill too. Add some cherry peppers or something like that to eat with the steak.... yummy.

Sounds like I need to dig in the freezer and replenish my beef cuts this weekend and take an inventory. I know I have plenty of ground burger meat and chicken in there but not sure on steak tips.

The fall is deer hunting season. I'm not a hunter but I have a few friends who are. Maybe I can talk them into getting or selling me some venison when they land one again this year.

The only thing I was killing was my body. Felt like I was in a rollover in an 89 LeCar, sans seatbelt. Feeling less awful now.

In an equally painful pursuit, the last 90 minutes has been investing in trying to cancel ESPN+ and accompanying refund. So much for the promise of being grandfathered in when I purchased it for $49.99 a year. Got hit with an automatic charge of $99.99.

This is arguably more complex than cancelling Amazon Prime. Forget Sticky Payments- it is more akin to herpes.

Morning chubbies!

Have to count myself among that group now as I'm hovering close to 200 and don't want to be above 190. I blame the hot months here since it's much harder to stay active outdoors. I still do an early morning 5 mile fast walk which can cut 3 lbs off real quick but then spend the rest of the day hydrating and it ain't all water iffn ya get my drift. Beer

ESPN is owned by Disney. Both too woke for me to give them any of my money. I don't even like to tune into the channel any more, if I can help it, but I do sometimes.

Amazon Prime is a must for me. Yeah, I know... Bezos is a woke bozo, too... but I and the wife use it quite a bit. Pretty sure it's easy to go into the account and cancel it if and when I want to.

Walked the pooch and fed him... now it's time for the actual exercise. Then I'll feed me, too. fog

Enjoyed ESPN+ for my fringe soccer addiction. In the end, was only watching 20 to 30 games a year, and maybe a couple or three documentaries. The Forever $49.99 (which of course I have no written documentation of) was worth it.

My dislike for Amazon is four-fold. You hit on Besos, the price for the service seemingly always on the climb, it’s hollowed out and outright killed so many Main Street American businesses small towns, people have little reason to stay.

Add to that, much of the money for the things purchased are to the benefit of China. Generally, I pass on them.

Full disclosure; still buy from them three or four times a year.

3 3 NEIN.

Furniture we bought was finally repaired today. Like... 9 months later. Door on the china cabinet had a bent hinge. I think they ordered the replacement hinge from a far away galaxy.

Only took the guy 15 minutes to replace the hinge and get the doors hanging properly.

Going out to get some fresh oysters and clams for tomorrow night’s Seafood Grill dinner. Snow crab legs, mussels, shrimp, cuttlefish and hotdogs (…for the granddaughters…) also on the menu. The plan is to grill and eat out in the garage with a few adult beverages. Might pick up a ribeye or two but might be too much food.

Prolly do honey garlic chicken tomorrow. Some skinless and boneless chicken thighs are defrosting. I prefer these rather than pure white meat chicken breast for recipes like this.

Chicken, salt and pepper, honey, garlic, soy sauce, red pepper flakes. Toss it into a crock pot on low and slow. Set and forget. Prolly do wild rice with it. Veggie TBD.

A friend is stopping over tomorrow but he wants a steak. OK.. whatever... I'll add it to the cooking list. It's not hard, you franking sear it in a cast iron pan then toss it into the the oven for a bit to finish it off to your preferred doneness.

I had a craving for some tacos earlier but it went away. Prolly do some tacos later this week. Maybe Tuesday.
