I'm busy as usual hence why I'm not around much unfortunately but all interested individuals post up here and if we get enough interest I'll start the yearly thread.

I actually struggled with if I was gonna run it this year due to the added work load and family commitments but I figured what the hell.... so with that being said .......

Hope everyone is doing well

As always I'd like to have at least 10 people play to make it interesting and worthwhile.

Rules:

1) Ante is 10 cigars.

2) You have up until 5 minutes prior to the beginning of each game to make your selection.

3) Once the contest is over and shooting solutions are plotted, please endeavor to complete your fire control missions in a timely manor. Two weeks should be more than sufficient.

4) If you are interested, post in the thread first( ie: "IN") , the send me a PM. I'll send you the Group ID and password.

Ante Guidelines.

1) Absolutely no dog turds. One would expect to receive quality smokes. Therefore, one should be willing to risk the same. No five or ten packs of $2-$3 cigars. Though one may enjoy them, most others would consider them yard gars at best. Likewise, a $50 Gurkha that retails for $3 is not considered a good cigar.

2) Keep in mind that in the past most players included at least a few aged premiums therefore it is only fair that all others endeavor to risk something similar.

3) On the other hand, it is understood that not everyone has a stash of aged super premiums. But, there should be ample time between now and the end of the contest to pick up a selection of good, though not necessarily aged cigars.

To play you have to meet one of the following:

1) Been a Cbid member for at least 6 months and have 3 verifiable completed trades, or have a vet vouch for you.

2) If you don't meet 1) then PM me. We can arrange for you to send me your ante and 1 extra stick to cover postage.

Well hell it’s been what 3-4 years since I threw my hat in the ring. Not sure if ain Halifax.

I haven’t bought smokes in a while so all I have is some old stuff. So I’m a bit low. Maybe a Anejo or two. A few Padron x000’s. no telling what else. Probably at least 5 years old more old. They may be past their prime. What do you say? Do I qualify?

I have been slacking of late. Haven’t been on here in awhile. Football always brings me back. Maybe things will slow down a bit.

I am definitely in.

It's easy. You have a list of games each week and you pick the winner. But it's very important you don't pick more winners than me. Most if these azzhats never did follow that rule very well

You wanted verified trades, there out there probably 10 deep so far plus a box pass and secret santa. Easy enough for you to verify.
I'm sure SOB wouldn't have responded to my previous post about the game if he didn't think I was good either.
Don't want me in? It's cool, I'm good either way no skin off my azz

Unfortunately I'm not on the site much due to busy work and family life.... with that being said, I'm not familiar with screen names and don't have time to research what you may have/have not done.... further more when I was active we use to respond to A LOT of individuals (albeit normally sarcastic and smartazz) regardless of your trade activities.

Take that however you please Beer

I can't personally speak to trades for jgkamin, but he's been around since '11, enjoys political threads, and gets irritated with people who may or may not have spent a year spamming said political threads

No problem, thanks anyway, forget I asked. I’ve been around here for a long time and spent many thousand$ with CI. I’m not a “trader”, not antisocial or anti-trading, I just don’t believe in spending too much at the post office to ship and have the smokes break in transit, so I buy what I smoke and smoke what I buy.

Let me wade in and offer a bit of insight regarding the need for trade cred to participate. Since I was the person started the annual regular season contest I can speak to its purpose.

This contest has been ongoing for 6-10 seasons and if you’ll notice that the ante is 10 high quality cigars. In the pass the ante was 10 premium cigars. In my opinion premium and high quality are similar.

When this started we had 20-30 participants, many who were new here. But, back in those days we also paired a vet with newbs to teach them about the community and what was expected of trades. At that time we established that unless someone had made name for themselves as a person who consistently sent top quality smokes then someone who had such a respected reputation had to vouch for them. The idea was to prevent people who had a propensity for sending crappy cigars from winning top quality smokes.

Such was needed because there always seemed to be that one guy who thought it was ok drop shipping a few $1 cigar sampler packs to pay his end if he lost. In fact, I told one newbie that hadn’t made a single trade that he could send me his ante as well as one extra cigar to cover the cost of me forwarding his ante if he lost. I gave him very specific guidelines as to what was acceptable and what was not. He sent me two 5 packs of a bottom shelf cigar. I pm’d him and explained that that cigars in no way met the requirements, nor were they in anyway consistent with the instructions given. I offered to send them to him on my dime since he didn’t bother to send extra to cover the $5.80 it would cost me to send them back in a SFR. He got an attitude about me being an elitist. I reminded him that he was in fact correct since the ante expected was in a way elitist. He wouldn’t give me his addy so I sent them to OpFTH.

Basically the people who have been playing since the beginning all are known for being very generous with top quality cigars. They should and do expect to be compensated with like quality.

So there you have it. The reason behind the requirements. If you don’t like them, don’t participate. Easy peasy.

I can attest for the guys that are already signed up and the quality of cigars they will send if they aren't the winner(s)

Not to mention since I continued it after Anthony decided to stop running it, I normally throw in extra incentive prizes on my dime..... look up the previous years threads and you will see the type of smokes and prizes I'm referring to.
I'm basically making sure I protect the fine individuals that have kept this tradition going since I took it over.

Since SOB vouched for you guys if you want to join send me your email addresses and I will send the invite to you as well, but if you decide this isn't for you then...... No harm no foul

cashmoneydave was in the same boat a few years ago but he sent me his ante and he has proven himself as a reliable BOTL since then.

Everyone have a blessed day!

Indeed didn’t have trade cred or anyone to vouch for me. I understand and respect the rule. Learned the guys around here have some super aged premos I didn’t have. So had counter with new RHTF and start aging some.

Thanks for the shout out!

It took me some time to truly understand the generosity of the cigar community and the definition of premium high quality cigars.

Looking forward to playing again this year and trying to start winning some of those antes back ha ha. Knowing these guys they’ll have aged them properly for me and send them back ha ha!!

All well stated. In the end, it is a “small” payment for keeping an entire season fun to watch.

Thanks to those that put these on…I am always grateful.

I've been down do to surgery so haven't checked but if you didn't get the invite or it didn't work please let me know.

Also I'm considering a side bet this year on the over/under on how many games Clint doesn't pick this season 😆😆

J/K Clint....maybe

Think we did spread last two years. And I lost. So I need to try straight up ha ha. So my vote is for straight up. But I’m fine with spread if everyone wants to do with spread again.

I think it has been 2yrs now. The first year was an accident and then last year it was felt to be more interesting and makes it harder for one person to run away with the season
