5.25 miles of walking/jogging done.

Tank, of course, chewed the bandage off his foot... so I put some bacitracin on guaze and duct taped it on him. Chew that off, home-skillet... (12 hrs later: he hasn't).

Good Thursday Afternoon to All! Just got back from my annual physical, I need to start a walking program, but my labs were great, especially for OFB.

Another interesting day at my new job at a psychiatric hospital. It’s rewarding work but I’m damn tired after each shift.

Also, why tf is Kentucky this hot? I was promised lower temps after moving out from AZ.

I would like to give blood and/or plasma. My problem is that I'll allergic to needles.

OK, not a real allergy but I hate needles. I have to look the other way when they take blood for the annual Dr physical or if I have to go to the hospital and they have to stick in an IV or something. They always tell me that I have good veins and stuff and it'll be easy stick in the needle. Thanks for the vote of confidence but I'm still gonna look the other way and squeeze hard on this arm chair until it's done.

I'm glad I'm not a diabetic where you have to give yourself a shot on a daily basis or a couple times a day. But I think diabetics can just do it in their thigh muscle, belly, or arm rather than hitting a vein.

I think I'm type A so that's kinda boring. If I was type O, I'd probably be more inclined to donate and get over the phobia. Regardless, I'll also admit that the reasons given above are lame and I should get over it and donate.

Executive Summary: I'm a chicken when it comes to needles. I admit it.

Five hour ticker revolt, then on the dog walk got stung by a hornet, right in the achilles.

In better Thursday event, invested two hours at a county historical society digging into family history stuff. Much to comb through. By coincidence, ran into a great aunt who just happended to be there. Great catching up.

Buckminster... I do not like to look when they're sticking me with the needle, either. Especially the thicker ones they use for blood draws. This one was thick, dude. I don't recall them being that fat and if I have a bruise tomorrow... I won't be shocked.

I have 8 tattoos, so needle sticks don't really bother me. Never thought I could poke one into myself, but it turns out... I can.

Do not like needles either. Everything you said- it is my experience as well.
The only thing different is when giving my my son, my wife had complications which led her needing an emeregent surgery where she ended up taking in a three pint transfusion. Remember her BP 56 over 38.

Once on the receiving end of a donation that saves a family member- and the nightmare my son would lave had by being raised excliusively by me, I keep taking the needle.

Alright. When did you purposely poke yourself with a needle?

No problem Bucky, you just get someone else to donate, someone that would not normally donate.

Give the gift of life, give blood.

We have the Joseph M. Still Burn Center at Doctor's Hospital in Augusta, GA. As one of the many blood drive coordinators at the Savannah River Site, we had a tour of the burn center. There were and still today patients waiting on critical surgeries for a lack of blood.

Quote:
The Joseph M. Still Burn Center at Doctors Hospital of Augusta is the largest burn center in the U.S. and third largest in the world. We treat patients from all over the country who travel for access to our world-class burn care. For more than 30 years, our doctors in Augusta, Georgia, have continually delivered the highest standard of care to patients in our burn center.

When our older son was in the regular Army he supported a MASH until and got Combat Lifesavers training. He could set up an IV on himself. He said a saline solution IV was a great hangover cure. Anxious

My wife gives herself a weekly injection for her diabetes. Every three weeks I get two injections for allergies, my wife does them, NOT me. LOL

90/77 with a breeze and only 75% humidity. First break in weeks. No rain for a while, which is grossly abnormal so we are close to bringing a drought.

First day with nothing planned for almost four months. Thank god. Short swim, run some errands and relax.

Hope to v-herf for the One Fights replay tonight. Glad NFL is starting up again

Have a great day! Herfing

Yesterday was one of if not the hottest day I can remember. Heat index topped at 117 according to local weather guy. I believe it. Tried to do things but couldn't. Playing catch up today. 75 degrees feels cold. I dont know how it dropped temp so much and we didn't even get rain. I'd expected angry thunderstorms.

Wife's side of the family coming over for boys and my birthdays. Smoker's lit to make some smoked brisket mac n cheese. Bottom shelf got 2 pork butts for tomorrow's family birthday party for my side of the family. Sous vide is heating up in the kitchen for some pork tenderloins gonna make banh mi sammiches. Found a big insect cavity in my cabbage so I need to go buy another to make some slaw.

Happy birthday Danm!

I took a day off today to celebrate my and my best buddies birthdays last week. We've been like brothers for the last 45+years, and despite both of us moving clear across the country, we continue to live down the street from each other, first in RI and now in AZ. We smoked cigars and went to lunch and shot the chit, like always. I am deeply grateful for such an amazing friend.
