Pretty much.

But eventually as the day gets hotter and / or more humid, I’ll switch to a tank top or an old cutoff t-shirt. Gotta drink plenny water too.

Yup... I got lots and lots of shorts and t-shirts. A handful of jeans... a handful of collared shirts. No suits.

I probably need a couple just for occasions they're required.

It dropped down in to the 50s last night so it was cold this morning; certainly too cold for shorts. I am able to wear shorts everyday 8-9 months per year and the other 3-4 months wearing shorts just depends if it will be warm enough. Being acclimated to warm/hot temperatures, I get cold when it is bellow 80F.

Low to mid 40's after the Sun goes down here. Goes up to low to mid 60s during the day if the Sun is out. I'm not a fan of the cold weather meanwhile others I know would wear shorts and T-shirts all winter long if they could and only put on long pants for work attire or something. Mid winter and your are comfortable in shorts and t-shirts? Even outside? There is something wrong with that. Maybe they are not human.

Winter is coming to the Northeast. Planning for the worst and hoping for the best. Snowblower bought for the driveway and public sidewalk purchased. Battery powered shovel/mini snowblower thingy for the stairs, sidewalk to the house and the deck purchased.

I will not shed a tear if I never use either of them snow clearing machines but I do need to buy a new grill to cook some animal meat.

Dog and pony show tomorrow at work. A large furniture distributor is looking to add our products to their catalog. Probably be pulled into a few meetings and help escort a plant tour. It will mostly be salesmen (sales persons) thing. I should probably wear a shirt with a collar and stuff.

One Fiddy NINE!

speaking of suits, button up shirts and long pants, my wife said I should go through our closets and gather up stuff I prolly wont wear, or need, anymore since we're both retired and have very little occasion to wear dressy clothes, especially here in laid back SoCal...she had a few bags of donations gathered up already and wanted me to make a run to the Salvation Army donation truck.

Obediently, I gathered up some things to donate and to clear out some room in the closet, hopefully not to be re-filled. I picked out one plaid sport jacket, one nearly new Adidas pullover rain hoody, one long sleeve pull over Henley sweatshirt, four long sleeve dress shirts, three long sleeve casual shirts, 5 short sleeve button up shirts and 2 Hawaiian short sleeve shirts...hope somebody can use them...

nowadays I'm usually in shorts and T-shirts or tank tops...in the cold season, I wear sweat pants and t-shirts or long sleeved Ts...always wear step in slider around the house or light weight athletic shoes when out and about or walking shoes when out for long walks...

I got rid of seven suits and like three sport coats and pants (a.k.a. my "costumes") when I retired. Went out and bought one new suit just so it wasn't "tainted" by my career, so to speak...

I forgot about ties, I do not like wearing them and I still have a bunch from those day past. The last time I wore one was for my Mother's funeral service. More stuff to throw out.

Good Wednesday Morning to All! It's 47° on the way to 71° today.

We attended a High School ring ceremony for one of our Granddaughters last night. I had never heard of such a thing, it was probably marketing from the ring makers. That said, the students got to, more or less, design their rings and it turned out great, the best HS class ring I've ever seen. In addition to being the top student in her magnet HS, she is artistically talented.

Waiting for the tile crew to arrive and it is almost 10am.

These guys and the other tradesman doing our shower and bath, work "bankers hours: at best.

Unbelievable to me.

It's like they are skipping a full day of work/week (5 days x 6-7 hours per week = 30-35 hours.

Jeez, I worked around 60 hours per week for many, many years.

The start of a five week dog sitting stretch has begun. A greyhound we know who’s mom who had shoulder surgery. He’s a Goliath, weighing about 20 pounds more than Kuba. He’s a big, sweet, if not entirely smart gentle soul. When he takes a dump, it reminds me of what DMV likely has to pick up each day with his Danes.

I have a bit over 5 acres. It's all fenced in and the wildlife enclosures all have barrier fences. If somebody steps in their business...we have a hose, but look where you're walking because it's their home. Big dogs...big landmines! Now, back to momma Lilly...we ended up with 6 total and upon further inspection it's 4 females, and 2 males...all doing great and she's stepped into the momma role like I knew she would. She's been a great dog, and she goes outside to go to the bathroom and stretch her legs but when she's out she always looks back at the house and wants to be by my side.

Lilly sounds like a great dog.

It's gonna be 96 today after 63 overnight. Couple more days of this mini heat wave and then cooling down to low 70's by Sun...possible rain Tue...gotta remember to cover the patio furniture...that has worked to stave off rain the last couple forecasts...

I can’t speak for all contractors but iffin’ they’re known to do good or at least decent work, then most of them have multiple projects in various stages so they sometimes go to one, do work that needs to be done then leave for another site. Sometimes it’s a matter of letting things dry or they can’t proceed to the next stage without another contractor doing their portion first.

And I know what you’re saying about “banker’s hours” but I look at it this way, they have skills / knowledge that I don’t have and I’d rather have them do the work than me tackling it and taking 3 times as long to do…or worst yet, do a shoddy job that should have been left to professionals.

Lunch with a guy I use to hang out with in the 90's and haven't seen since pre-pandemic.

Next, met up with a high school friend and went to the hospital to visit (get ready for it rfenst)... The guy who needed his left quad reattched two weeks ago- blew out his right quad a few days ago. Nurse said he has had a down week. Actually had him belly laughing- and he wasn't on any pain meds. She (the nurse) got us all the way into the pre-op room by telling two sets of security we were family. Coooool.

The rehab is going to be brutal, as he has to be able to put weight on one leg to rehab the other. The real worry now is the possibility of him becoming wheelchair bound.

Add to that, a listening session with someone who is trying to decide how to navigate the possibility dating his baby-momma who has significant mental health issues.

A tiring but oddly fulfilling day.

57 headed to 78.

My best friend from HS is coming to visit for a few days, again. Probably go fishing tomorrow, if the charter is running.

Wife and I marinated some chicken for chicken shawarma. Got all the ingredients to make some, but instead of tahini I made tzatziki. Shawarma and souvlaki are similar, but IMO Greek souvlaki is better (usually made with pork or lamb) and the tzatziki is better than tahini.

Not sure what all that fancy words are, but sounds like Food Porn. In the end it is even less than Greek to me.

Tzatziki is a sauce made with greek yogurt, minced garlic, minced cucumber, minced dill, olive oil, lemon juice and salt.

In Greek restaurants they bring you a bowl of it and bread to dip in it. It's delicious. They also use it on the Souvlaki sammiches as a condiment. Pita bread... seasoned and roasted pork... tomatoes, red onions and tzatziki. Amazingly good.

Does California not know about Italian beefs?

Went to three stores - Walmart, Safeway, and grocery outlet. No Italian beef. Looking at stores online in a bigger radius and every search says no results.

It's an easy staple for trackside. Comes in 5lbs buckets already cooked, just frozen in its own juices. Throw it in a pot or a crockpot, heat and serve. Does fine letting it cool and use for leftovers.

No California has no idea what Italian beef is. They will think it is some sort of new Impossible Burger. You can ship it from Portillos or Vienna Beef. That’s what I did.

Now you did it. Have to make the 40 mile round trip and get a better than average gyro this weekend.
Allow myself two gyro and two brisket/pulled pork per year. The brain, tongue and tummy LOVE them. It is the rest of the body that goes into revolt.

I don't mean "banking hours" in a pejorative way- more power to them. It's just that they only work like 6 hours per day. I need and respect their skills and understand that the timeline is loose.

Excited for my fraternity reunion with the guys I pledged with 40 years ago. I leave tomorrow, no later than 9:00 am, for a two hour drive in time to have lunch with a brother before the event officially begins in the evening. Open bar. Shula's Steak House. Time at the frat house. Major partying. Time and meals at the frat house. Should be an amazing experience. I have' not spoke with all but a few in like 20-40 years. It will be great to catch up! And, I am going to make certain a current pledge has to meet me at the university lap pool early Saturdays morning to take me in as a guest so I can swim laps there like I used to too.

Tile tile folks are doing the cement board, then will cover it with some type of water proofer. Supposedly going to stink. I don't care about stink as long as they continue making progress every successive workday.

If they finish early I can get to the pool this afternoon/evening.Applause

It's not anywhere near the same but is still a fairly easy crock pot dish. Basically it's pot roast with Italian dressing packets, jar peppercini, beef broth. Makes decent sammiches but it's not like the good thin sliced stuff
