Give me some of your favorites. Loading a new 100 count 'dor I got for Xmas. Won a few sticks here at CB.com, but still a newby. I tend to like maduro wraps, 40-50 ring, 6"+. Not going to spend a ton, but will respect all suggestions. Thanks.

I agree with james on the Bucanero, a little up in price but well worth it. (now available at Cbid thanks to Slim)

The Padron is my favorite everyday smoke. Do some searching and you can get them at a reasonable price. Uasually go for too much here

Mayorga is another quality stick for a low price that can be had here on a regular basis.

Try 'em all, find what you like and kep the lit end out.

BMW, Those Mayorga's are a very good smokes, all sizes. 5-packs usually no more than $10.

Agree on all of the above, and would add Onyx Reserves and Oliva O Maduros for moderate priced great smokes!

mrkmitch ... giving you a list of MY favorites is a good idea .... IF you are putting that 100 ct humidor together for ME ... (which, btw, I would greatly appreciate) ...

BUT, if you're putting it together for YOU or for someone else, my favorites aren't necessarily applicable ... as an example of what I mean, let's pretend you're putting a salad together for dinner tonight ... if you ask me for an opinion on it's contents, I'm gonna advise you to leave out cucumbers ... I think they're nasty and vile ... but leaving them out might greatly disappoint you or one of the other guests since you really like them ...

Similarly, if you ask me, I'm gonna tell you to leave HdM 1066's out of that humidor ... I dislike them intensely ... but several other guys on here count those among their favorites ... if you've not tried them yourself, who you gonna believe?

Best you try as many different cigars as you can ... then put YOUR favorites into your humidor and leave the others out ...

I might suggest going to CI's Website (http://www.cigarsinternational.com) ... find a cigar on their list that you know you like ... go to that page ... scroll down ... at the bottom are several other cigars listed which they are suggesting you might like, based on your initial choice ... when you go to those pages, there are others at the bottom and so on and so forth ... I've made a number of experiements doing just that and have found a number of cigars I really like that way ... I also found some I didn't, but hey, asking everyone's opinion will be even more random, so what the hell, give it a shot ...

If you're a newbie, my suggestion is to try everything, especially dogrockets (so you know what you don't like), don't just take someone else's word for it.

Start mild, then move up from there. If you do this, you will build your palate up and have an appreciation for all bodies of cigars.

I do realize taste is in the mouth of the beholder, but suggestions are a good place to start. I appreciate SteveS comment to "try them all", I have tried quite a few, just looking for some suggestions. Bucaneros seem to be talked up alot here. Yea, the 5Pak route is the way to go. A sampler does let you try the one, but I like to try it at least another time, to give it an even break, good or bad. Appreciate all teh good info. Looking forward to a few more hits. Thanks

One of the few things I disagree with SteveS on. I really like the 1066s. Also Excalibur Prensado Oscuros, Flor de A. Allones, Bolivar Fuerte Oscuros, HdM Dark Sumatrans, La Perla Habana Black Pearls, Montecruz Negra Cubanas. Those are some brands that leap to mind. I like just about anything made by Villazon. Oh yeah, don't forget El Rey Del Mundo Robusto Largas and Rectangulares.

La Gloria Cubana Serie R Maduro
El Rey del Mundo

Now that I've listed my favorites, I exect everyone here to please NOT bid on them so I can get a good deal.

Try to find a trade in the trade forum where you can try a wide variety of maduros, learn what's right for your taste. It will evolve over time and after many samplings.

I wouldnt say this is my favorite, but I just finished a Indian Tabac Limited Reserve Churchill, and was impressed. Medium strength good flavor & really smooth right after lighting, and all the way down. Very consistant all the way. I recommend trying it. Bought a 5-pack here on cBid for believe $14.

those "dog rockets" i bought a month ago here are working out nicely. they are not monte's or onyx's or hemmingway's, but in their own little $.50 each, they do nicely.
