This is a "professor"? What CRAP! THIS is what teachers aspire to become? Philosophy? You sure about the subject? Sure you just don't take a Philosophy course? I mean how do you KNOW you're a Professor? One thing I know for certain, is that YOU don't know ANYTHING!

That crack about 'annoying usahog' was a joke and self-parody. I thought that was clear, and am sorry it wasn't.

And political debates are one thing; that stuff, I take seriously and we've engaged in serious debate. I've never done this name-calling you engage in. That seems different to me. Here, you've made it personal, questioning my character and (in this last post and others) persisted in this 'you are a liberal and therefore a whiner who can't deal with difference.' None of that has anything to do with what we debate. That **** is personal. I can play that game, but think it is classless. If that's how you want to debate, ok. Just say the word. But I am not down for much of that. It is tiresome and uninteresting.

Its subject matter is immensely abstract and you will be assured that it is philosophy. Don't talk **** about my profession or my abilities and/or successes. You will lose. Ph.D. at 27, 16 articles, an original book, an edited volume in production, a second original book under contract, and numerous awards for teaching excellence at two different universities. Well respected in my field. Go to GVSU.EDU and look up the Philosophy Department. I work my ass off for very little pay and very little respect from my fellow citizens because I love teaching and the vocation of philosophy. That deserves respect. I spent years of work and suffering in school; don't talk **** about that. Very few can endure what that takes, and very few have the native motivation and intelligence to pull it off. That deserves respect.

Evidence? There it is. I don't trot this stuff out or use it as a card in debates because I respect the intelligence and insight of everyone, regardless of formal education. I've never played on that, and I don't believe in such hierarchies. My education doesn't make my arguments better. We are all citizens who live in the world and are capable of articulating that life. I've never disrespected anyone personally here. Funny that you can't give an ounce of that respect back. Can't figure out why, but I think it speaks volumes about you and everyone here can see it.

Yes I tossed out the Liberal Fraze towards your direction but it was all in defence... and you claim to be Liberal and allot of your Views point that way... so why get so defensive about the fact?

I wont post to anything in your direction on here if thats what you want...as far as other things in Commin between us... There are no distress calls, my friend. Ha ha ha! Seriously. I am a passionate person, so you might read that as more than it is; thanks for the concern, though. Divorce? It was mutual and amicable. No distress there, just fucked up lawyer bills and legal mumbo jumbo. Funny you remark about 'rage'; my friends think my lack of anger is hilarious. And they're right. Passion and anger...very different things. But I don't take personal attacks very well, so you saw that.

You know, I just couldn't post sentimental stuff on the confederate flag thread. If you read my posts, you'll see why. Nothing personal toward you. My first kid, this one. This kid will rule the friggin' world...especially if s/he looks like mom. She's a babe way out of my league.

With the baby on the way, the bike and riding is kaput. Mutual decision with the old lady. Not worth it to me or her, the risks. Personal decision. Many, including my own dad, decided otherwise. Fond memories of riding on his harley on the 101 in Cali. But it doesn't mean enough to me personally to compensate for the risks.

And, finally, while I appreciate the gesture, don't bother picking up my book. To be honest, it is written for about a dozen people in the world. Obscure and very archival. Important for the profession of philosophy...that's it! Proud of it, but I understand it's very narrow scope. You won't figure out what makes me tick. You'll just find out how good I am at drawing out the esoterica of an obscure philosopher. Buy a few good smokes with the cash.

Yes Mag, You are Exactly right... JJ is doing to allot what Rick does in turn... only on an opposite side of the fence... I have had the honors of Knowing JJ for going on 3 yrs.. Great Person.. tells it like it is.. and how he see's it.. we have partied together, BS'd on emails... Traded, and had debates before... But if you can look back and see just not to long ago.. as much **** as him and Rick give each other.. they still turn out to a Herf together!!!! it is a Slamming or tossing Puns out there to see who will bite.. and there has been many over the years LMAO!!!! Rick does this the same way in his own way...Sometimes I almost fall out of my Chair when I read some of the Posts JJ, Doc, Rick,and myself (I Don't laugh at myself) just the reaction/responce I get from some who will take the bait!!!!

i just bought my second digital from a guy on ebay. $100.00 for a poloriod 640 something or other, nothing fancy but it does the job.
