What a letdown. I was checking a shipment status on recently purchased cigars that should have arrived yesterday by UPS. They made it from CI shipping to here in Texas just fine. But for some reason they made a detour yesterday for Indiana. I like my smokes aged but.... Oh well, no use in crying. So I will say a prayer for their safe arrival and smoke another.

One of my recent orders made that same long strange trip on the way to California. Added 2 days to my wait. Cupido Torpitos were a bit dry after the journey so I have to let then go ni-night before I wooop them up.

Well the tracking shows departing Indiana this morning. It will be interesting to see where they go next. Lets see that is four of fifty states down - LOL

God I hate that! But what really chaps me is when UPS gets them to the SF Bay Area early and then lets them sit in the distribution center for 4 days just so they don't undercut those blokes who paid for faster shipping. My orders always sit for several days in that place.

EV,
I assume that would be the Richmond facility?

Mine spend quite a bit of time there as well. At least 2 days.

i live on the westcoast, and I've found that USPS offers the quickest delivery to residence. I order on a friday, and its here in my mailbox on monday. I use to get shipments from UPS, and they can never seem to find my place, and I end up either chasing after the stupid brown truck, or picking it up from the delivery center. So basically, for fast times, its USPS, for expensive stuff, its UPS, and if I want my stuff messed up and damage its with fedex. Those morons leave packages outside, pisses me off.....sorry i had to vent

since you are right about fedex, it's not really ranting.

in calif my packages alwas arrive friday unless the ups driver can't see the large note on my door that says any other office in the complex will sign for it.
usually the note that he will "try" again monday is pasted to my note.

answer is always keep more then you need. i'm on my 8th bohemian ammo box so i don't mind a little wait. when i order bad frogs, i usually hope they will take a little longer.

Well the tracking shows they left Indiana yesterday AM but have yet to arrive anywhere today. Day ten on the road and counting (poor babies got to be getting separation anxiety). Got another order that is due on the 15th, wonder which will get here first?
UPS guy that delivers here knows me by my first name. Does Cbid give frequent buyers miles?

are you absolutely certain the tracking system isn't a nintendo thing, or whatever they call games now?

did you have an option for which path to take or behind which door is the lady or the tiger?

i am 5'1" and weigh 212. i'm not so sure i like your secret post name.

I live in southern Louisiana. Shipping cigars this time of year (in the heat) can be a nightmare. I too have found USPS to be the faster shipper from all points on the East coast.
My weekly winning bids often arrive on Saturday, whereas UPS takes until the following Wednesday.

I guess this post really should have been on misc board instead of here.
Vance does CB do USPS on large orders? I do get small orders USPS and they do come quickly (about 3 days). I changed shipping to weekly to maybe save a few dollars. This is really first problem I have had.
Live and learn.
Maybe cigars will show Monday, day twelve in transit.

It is opposite the closer you are to CI. I get my shipments on Friday if shipped by UPS (next day shipping). If shipped by UPS, I get them the following Tuesday. I live in Central NJ.

Fatshotbud, yes Cbid will ship any size order via USPS. However, they add an addition insurance charge for shipments over $50.

I buy weekly. The bidding ends 11:59pm Wednesday. My winning bids ship out Thursday. I receive my winning bids Friday between 1:30pm and 4:30pm ( JonR leaves computer and Mummer stuts all around the house, JonR returns to computer )but I don't get excited about C-Bids fast delivery. JonR

UPS is slipping. They, at first, attacked the USPS, because it was too big and impersonal. Guess what...
I have had several packages take "detours."
I have also received some packages damaged. One had a foot print right in the middle. Since I live in a no signature zone, the guy did not even ring the doorbell. Guess he did not want the hassle. Then I had to bitch until the package was replaced.
I got the same story with USPS concerning $50 max. But they do not always ship USPS when bid less than $50. I guess they go by potential value.
For what it's worth

OK guys, here's the scoop on Priority Mail. Our system makes a shipping decision based upon the value and/or the potential weight of your winnings. This is why you sometimes get Priority Mail and other times get UPS Ground.

Depending on the amount of your order there is shipping insurance added to it. $50 - $100 is $2.00, $100 - $200 is $3.00, etc. If a package gets lost in transit, we have no recourse with Priority Mail unless we have insurance on the package. Additionally, there may be other fees associated with Priority Mail shipping. If your order is too large for a single box, shipping charges may have to be adjusted. CigarBid is also not responsible for any additional charges incurred by the Post Office when our customer has requested Priority Mail shipping.

While Priority Mail may get your order to you quicker, if it should get mis-routed, we have to allow the Postal Service a minimum of 10 business days to deliver before we can take action. They say 3 business days, but there is no actual guarantee.

If you win lighters or any hazmat items along with your cigars, everything is sent UPS Ground. FAA regulations prohibit us from sending lighters via any air transport.

As you can see, there are other considerations when choosing Priority Mail as your exclusive shipping means.
