Have you had any? Evangelists and preachers often speak of being called or led by God or having prayers answered or somehow being in touch with the divine. Never happened to me. I often wonder if these things are real or imaginary.

I have had numerous prayers answered and have seen God's work in many occurances in my life.

I was blessed to have seen God once when I was struggling with my father's death. My father died unexpectedly several years ago when I was in Florida on vacation. I had a bad time dealing with his death. This may sound dumb or ridiculous, but that fact that I wasn't there when he died and didn't get to touch him while still warm really bothered me. I struggled with that for many months. Anyway, it was February 2002 and we were in church worshiping. The song was "Amazing Love". I closed my eyes and saw God. Standing to his right and behind him was my father and he looked like pure joy. He really was in heaven with his Father. After that experience, I came to peace with his death.

Some might doubt me, but I know what I saw and I saw it as clear as day.

Hoagie, your personal experience of God is nothing to be belittled or trivialized. Was it real? It obviously was for you. "Real" is not an appropriate word to be used in context with God I think. Prayer works when one is truly in need, distress and absolutey sincere and unselfish. That my personal belief. People who pray about everything are going to see paralells between their prayer and their normal day to day experiences. They can't distinguish between the mundane and the miracle. We are expected to take care of ourselves. To cultivate right ways of thinking and acting on our own. Prayer helps. But I don't believe God cares who wins the Superbowl, whether you get a new car or a bigger house. My two cents.

Once I put a quarter in a dime gumball machine and got a Cadillac. Does that count?
