I was gifted a "Punch" today and don't really have a clue which it is. I have not had many Punch's and am courious since it has to bands. I will try to explain to get your input.

It is a box pressed 6.75 x 46/47 ring gar and has two bands on it. The first is Punch's red & gold ("Punch" arched across top "JG" in circle in center and "Manuel Lopez" arched on bottom) Second below Punch's is green & cream and is some kind of Honduran govt. band (across top "Republica De Hunduras, C.A." middle "Sello De Garantia" & "Acuerdo No. 8 de 1973" with pictures of official looking stamps)

Please help identify... it smells fantastic & can't wait to toast.

Sounds like a Punch Rare Corojo Double Corona.

It does have a very dark wrapper with a somewhat deep redish brown hue, with darker specks through out. Beutifull wrapper, soft no veins and an excellent cap.

Does sound like Double Corona Rare Corojo from the description of the stick. I am not too sure on the second band you described, someone else may know more sorry.

Could it be a Punch made for a tobacco chain? I know that a tobacco chain has special Punch cigars labeled just for them.

** Edited due to competitor reference.

... it was made with a double-band ...

- does the lower band say "Rare Corojo"?

"When Punch Rare Corojo was introduced in a limited edition some years ago, the taste and aroma of the cigars was so exceptional, all of them were sold very quickly. Then, in the year 2001, Villazon cigar master Frank Llaneza began producing in small quantities, a new square-pressed version of the cigar that is even more robust than the original.

Punch Rare Corojo cigars are made with extra rich, dark Sumatra wrapper leaves that are grown in the mountains of Ecuador. The filler is a rich blend of Honduran, Nicaraguan and Dominican tobaccos.

If you want a Punch cigar with an extra kick to it, Punch Rare Corojo, in the distinctive red box, is the one for you."

Look at the picture post - see if it's the same stick.

The second band is green...It very much looks like the kind of paper stamp you see on a full box of smokes???
