I have read in some publications that white bloom is ok as long as it is not green, It only seems that it appears on the cigars closest to the credos. I have been brushing of the bloom and rotating my stock but is there some other steps I should be taking? Oh yea my humidity is right even though I live In South Florida , I am consatnly checking it and making adjustments.

If it brushes off easily it is bloom. If it don't it's mold. After looking at your cigars, it looks like mold.

Why brush it off?...Bloom is the crystallization of naturally secreting oils from the wrapper and indicates that your cigars are being properly stored at the right temp and humidity....I love cigars with bloom myself!...I think it makes for a better tasting cigar!

I wasn't saying that you SHOULD brush it off. It is just one way to distinguish between mold and bloom. Bloom will brush off easily. Mold will not.

No..Bill..I was referring to the author of this post...He seemed somewhat "alarmed" about the bloom on his cigars...I WISH I had the patience to age mine sufficiently for my cigars to produce bloom...Mold is another story...I've been lucky to not have had that problem.

No rookie I was not alarmed about the bloom I guess my question was not clear enough, I wanted to know if you leave it alone will it get worse and turn in to mold or will only continue to improve the cigar, and it only seems to be blooming on some of my lighter shade cigars not the maduros

The bloom is a crystalization of the oils in the cigar and is not related to mold.

Mold is also not always blue or green, early stages can be fluffy white, as you guys pointed out a couple of months ago.I Quarantined(sp) the offending smokes and it went away???.Like you said in your original post mine was only the 3-4 smokes closest(sp)the humidifier.(Keep an eye on those smokes guys.LOL.)conclusion I still don't know for sure but I didn't lose my smokes either.

One way to distinguish between mold and bloom is to spray Lysol or some other disinfectant onto the cigar. If the offending growth disappears, it was mold and you saved the day. You also created a Lars Tetans, but that is for another post.

One final word. If it is bloom, the cigar is aged and ready to smoke. If it is mold it needs to be smoked as an example to the other cigars. Either way....smoke!
