NO WAY! He MUST think that's a box and not a 5 pack.

This guy gunna be pissed when he opens his shipment. I'm curious if CBid has any policy in place for this sort of thing. Surely they realize this guy made a mistake.

The odd thing is that he is using Autobid which would mean that someone else is helping drive up the price for his bid to reach that amount.

Strange??????????????????????????

autobid wouldn't affect the starting bid though, maybe he started out at forty and is willing to pay more!!

I guess he needs some really expensive matches to light his really expensive cigars.
Check out his bid on these matches, $40 worth!!

... there was a post about this cigar the other day ... maybe he's just a newbie and this will be part of his learning curve ... the guy I'm talking about was trying to figure out what type of cigar he had smoked and it sounded like he really liked it ...

If my assumptions are correct "she" is not a newbie. I'll get back to everyone on this. Gotta make some phone calls :)

I could have spent 100 bones on something a whole lot better than a bunch of matches. LOL

I can only speak from personal experience, but I have found, to my profound regret/chagrin, that setting down to Cbid with a good cigar and my third....or fourth....possibly even my fifth snifter of cognac or brandy, circumstances beyond my control can converge in such a manner as to produce this situation. The real despair comes the next day when you realize there is not a snowball's chance of anyone replicating your original situation and outbidding you prior to auction closing. Ah, the miracles of modern technology.

Ahh, the auction. A people watcher's grand concert.

I once witnessed a person start to bid against herself at a live auction. The auctioneer stopped and said, "Lady you already have a bid for $10 and now you are trying to bid $12, which bid do you want?" Moment of silence. Then without skipping a beat, the auctioneer said, "Well let's just meet in the middle and we'll make the bid $11", and cranked right back up.

I was laughing so hard, I literally almost fell on the floor. What spell does an auction cast to make otherwise rational people act the way they do?

It's to bad such great entertainment comes at the expense of someone else's misfortune, but still, don't you just love it?

Keep smokin' (]]]]]]]]]]~~~

In the "match guys" defense, maybe he is a collector of matches and is looking to corner the market.

OR maybe "Double Dumb Ass" applies here too.

One for CBid.

I never treat it as an auction. I place a bid. Set my highest price I will pay. If I get it...great. If I don't. I'm done. I'll wait till it comes back again.

I got a Swiss Army golf cutter for 1/3 the current bids now. I grabbed it on a whim on a significant holiday when no one seemed to be out there bidding.
