If You're fly fishing try a Bitch Creek Nymph on The Yellowstone below Tower Falls. There's some bodacious Cutthroats in there that love 'em!

... let's hope you don't end up being part of another Urban Legend .... watch your step .... and keep this in mind ...

- if you have to go potty at night ... make sure you take a whistle and a good flashlight with you at all times as the loud noise and bright light will scare off the bears ....

- and try & avoid stepping in bear droppings as you would untimately leave a trail of bear scent leading back to your camp ... if you're not sure what bear droppings look like ... a simple test would be to see if there are any remnants of batteries & parts of broken whistles in them ...

What a great place! Should have taken 2 weeks instead of 1 though. Just too much to see and do. Here's the breakdown.

FISHING
Most of the rivers and streams were still in the runoff stage so fishing was limited. Still managed to catch plenty wherever I wetted a line. Brookies and Rainbows in the Medicine Bow range. Big Cutthroats in Jenny lake at the base of the Tetons and Browns and Bows in the Firehole River. What an amazing fishery the Firehole is. Without moving more then 15 yards in any direction, I caught nice trout using nymphs, streamers and dry flies. All in the same afternoon!

GYSERS
The Gysers were fascinating. I had no idea they were so extensive or so varied. It was like they each had their own personalities. From boistorious youngsters to grumpy old men. The whole place was hypnotic.

WILDLIFE
Springtime in the Rockies and the babies were everywhere. Buffalo calves, Coyote pups, Osprey nest with chicks and a Black bear yearling. Got em all on the video camera.

Totals......

11 rolls of film shot.
about 2 dozen trout caught (and released).
3 brew pubs visited enroute.
5 nice cigars smoked by the campfire. (would have smoked more but still feeling the effects of a flu bug.)
3422 miles of western scenery taken in.

The family and I are allready planning to return when we can spend more time there. Maybe take in Glacier NP and the Black Hills.

Man, how did I miss this thread?

Sounds like an absolutely incredible trip...I love that neck of the woods...

If any of you haven't had the pleasure of taking a trip to Yellowstone and the surrounding areas (especially if you have kids), do yourself a HUGE favor a do it...you won't regret it.

Can't wait to see the pics Norm!
