I had a few buddies over for poker last night and of course cigars were involved. My first smoke wasn't so great and for some reason the 3 different smokes I had after, which I normally enjoy, just didn't taste the same. Did the first smoke ruin the night?

The second smoke I had was an Indian Tabac Super Fuerte that has been resting in the Humi for about 9 months. It just didn't taste the way it did 2 and 9 months ago. In the last 2 months I have added about 5 different smokes to my humi, before it was mostly the super fuertes. All the smokes are naturals. Any theories

Also my humi is working just fine. I should say that before I smoked any of the cigars, I placed them naked in a dry ceder box for about 2 hours because the day before I had a few smokes that tunneled just a little bit, I was able to correct them.

I'm sure I'll find the answers my self eventually, but thought I would pole the forum.

You may be burning out your palate (gasp!). Hasn't happened to me yet, but lots of guys have to take a break to allow their taste buds to regrow (or whatever taste buds do).

I never even thought of that. Maybe I should go back to just having a few per week which was what I found most enjoyable. Darn C-bid keeps sending me new cigars. maybe a little patience would make them even more enjoyable.

yeah, it's probably all those horrible ISOMs you get up there in the Great White North. Send them to me hoser and you'll have your taster back in no time!

You know, when I smoked ISOM's exclusively. I had 1-2 Great smokes per week. I was very rarely disappointed. When I started buying on C-bid, I bought all sorts of lots for which I got great deals. My own mistake, but I was often disappointed. I think it's because I had become accustomed to a standard, not necessarily the Cuban standard, but the super premium standard. I have been newly inspired to acquire some higher end smokes, and have received a lot of help from those of you on the board. Some of you have smokes on the way from either trades or deflected bombs. I am so looking forward to trying these. No offence to those of you who smoke everyday cigars. My first smoke was a Monte #4 and that began my obsession with cigars. Half the smokes in my humidor just don't cut it. So I will be looking at replacing them.

Sorry wer, I'd have to cash in my retirement funds to send you ISOM's from here since the taxes went up 188%, but your one of many on my list of people to bomb, when I return from my planned trip to Cuba within the next 12 mo. Smokes there are 1/4 - 1/5 the price of here.

Cost is the reason I’m looking for great smokes in the non-ISOM category.

This isn't a what's better post. Just realized I can't compare apples to oranges.

Smokes in the dor: Indian Tabac super Fuerte (2 sizes), Punch oscuro, fresh rolled wheel's, Thomas hinds Honduran, CAO Bella Vanilla (a bit closer to my expectation, not mixed in with naturals), Takoma (has not disappointed me as much as some 5 buck smokes), smokes I've tried: Macunudo (diplomaticos maduro and Hyde park) La Aurora sublime, Padron (some corona), Wallstreet (worst smoke ever), Cuban honey, Te-Amo Aniversario, Flor de Fonseca, Bohemian Revolution, Indian Tabac Boxer, St. Charles and a few others I don’t remember.

The Te-Amo, CAO and Super Feurte have been O.K.

Smokes on the way: La Perla Habana Black Pearl and regular line, The Cigar, Fuente SG, Padron churchill maddie, Torano Exodus, Drew Estate and a bunch more that will surprise me when opened.

From what you’ve guys have said, these are the smokes I’m looking for. What’s in the humi will get traded 2,3 or 4 for 1 after I’ve tried some of the selection. And when I’ve got what I want, I will be going back to 1-2 smokes per week, I hope!

Thanks guys

Try cutting back a little and see if that helps.
Clearing the palate between smokes may also help.

Got your package! Thanks so very much!

Mr.Mean - My pleasure.

Will also be cutting back as this weekend I came to the realization of why I like cigars to begin with.

I have been smoking for many many years and I have found that on some days my taste buds just seem off. No matter what I smoke seems to taste bad. I have also realized that eating can sometimes clean and revitalize the palate and my cigars will begin to taste right again
