Since you liked the 8-5-8s you might want to try a nice Hemingway Classic

The only 858 I like ... is the 'sun-grown'. This was Arturo Fuente's private stock until his death at the age of 85, when it was released to the general public. This is the finest cigar I have ever smoked ...

There has only been three releases, the first in '02 ... and the rumor going around now, is that the '03 release will be the last. The Fuente's are not going to release anymore in the future!

Ditto Slim; my local shop got three boxes of the 858 sungrowns before Christmas; I got back a week later and grabbed the last 4 of the third box. Kickin' myself for not jumping on a box before I left; but those will be in the humi for a special occasion; unless I can get some of the 03 smokes.

That should have read, "the first in '00, and the '02 release will be the last ... I got my dates mixed up!

... if you don't find them soon, I'm afraid you will be out of luck. One of the 'other' sites will have them up for auction ocassionally, and they are going for a 'buy price' of $215 a box.

I have seen several boxes sell for up to $250 ... and folks are buying them ... incredible!

$250 for a $87 box of cigars. Great marketing.

I've recently seen the SGs on special somewhere...I'll see if I can find it and post back in case anyone is interested.

bud451 --- the 858SG's have always sold for a higher MSRP (but not that much) than the Candela, Natural and Maduro ... and of course, with the high demand and limited production on the SG's, some people are gouging folks as high as they are able for them.

... and with the Fuente price increase, they are all even higher now!

I hope the site that you are looking for isn't the one I placed an order for them back in July ... they never came through.

It seems that the only places that got the 2002 release this Christmas, were the tobacconists who did a Fuente window display ... and they were limited to 5 boxes!

Oh, and it wasn't marketing ... they were selling them at an auction site, and they were selling with no problem.

Like I said ... those who have that kind of money to spend on a box of cigars, are getting what I feel is the best cigar out there right now ...

cruiser --- you are talking about the 'sun-grown', correct?

I've never seen the SG's selling at such a low price!

Hey Slim, never had the SG's but sounds like a real treat!

When I first started smoking on a regular basis, the flor fina's were my everyday smoke. I could get them for under $50. a box (retail). When the cigar boom hit, the price went up quickly, but I still think they are a great value at almost twice the price. A well made, medium strength, and always consistant 'gar. The Fuente family knows the biz.

I've had 3, and I love them. I panned to keep a couple in the humi for later, but kept dreaming about them. Had to smoke 'em.

Just bought 1 1/2 boxes of 858 SG at 90 a box over the weekend. Made the superbowl easier to take.

Ok, I can't find the site. It probably was the same one you ordered from Slim. I think it was from an email special.

The 858 SG has a cedar sleeve and a black ribbon around the foot. I believe all of the Fuente SG vitolas display the black ribbon.

Topped, in honor of Smith's return.

Just smoked one of the three 8-5-8 SG's I had in my humi. Now I feel better about paying twice retail for the unopened box from Dec. 01, even if it be the lesser of the 3 releases.

Slimboli and Xibumbero were right about these.

eleltea - Thanks for toping this for me. Oh, Yeah I was fortunate to have received numerous SG 8-5-8's in trades with Great People like: JD1, Lowman, Titlerep, James Conners and the list goes on. Everyone on this board will share their best cigars in respect to the brother and sisterhood! Great to be back!!!

Regards,

B
