HELP - humidor temp in AZ

Everything I've been told about proper humidor conditions indicate that 70% and 70 degrees is optimal. I live in Tucson, AZ... our indoor temp in the summer is closer to 77-81. How much of a problem is this and how can I keep a humidor cooler??? This is the desert! HELP!?

put your humidor in your basement/crawlspace the gorund usualy stays cooler down there. no if you don't have a basement or crawlspace.. you can put an ice pack into your humidor, but the condensation might stain your wood. somepeople try those little CPU fans to keep the temp down.

you could use it as an excuse to get an airconditioner!

The idea of a humidor is to try and duplicate the conditions in which your tobbaco is grown, just like you have read yes 70/70 is the optimal but not always possible. Every day in the countries where your cigars are made is not a perfect 70/70. You are looking to achive 70% relative humidity which is 70% at any temp.

Sorry for the double, just remember, if you have to keep your cigars at a warmer temp it is much better and safer to keep the humidity lower maybe 60 to 65%. The cigar beatle hatches at high temps and humidity and you probably won't be able to tell the difference smoking anyway.
