Hey folks - has anyone here had an experience with a good butt kicking cigar w/o inhaling the smoke.

If so, please provide the name of it.

Although I don't inhale, I do prefer a strong, robust smoke.

I did find the CAO eXtreme I received from C-Bid to be fairly robust - and very enjoyable.

Did not put me on my knees though.

Gotta agree with Charlie. Every time I smoke a JDNA, my head swims for a 1/2 hour or so. Especially the Belicoso.

Cusano Corojo Toro - Great smoke and a very enjoyable smoking experience - I was very happy (while smoking it). Then I finished and needed to sit down for the next 30 minutes. There's nothing quite like that 'I'm sweaty all over and I need my mommy' kind of feeling. I'd still smoke another one, but never again on an empty stomach. Apparently 'Corojo' and 'empty stomach' don't go together very well.....

Actually, my third cigar ever (just about five weeks ago) - a Punch Rare Corojo, put me on my ass.

Had it with a drink BEFORE dinner. Next time, after dinner.

I don't know if I want anything that strong. Oh and mentioning the competitors website is a definite NoNo here. I feel a "yank" or and "edit" coming on.

Yeah, should have used some good old fashioned common sense on that one.

I think he'll just get a warning this time. He didn't post a link or start talking prices. I think he wants to be one of us.. even going to the herf in PA.

I just emailed C-bid to let them know about my mistake.

And, just to help things out a bit more, I placed a cigar bid.

In addition to many of those already mentioned, another one that never fails to leave me gasping a bit is the Occidental Havana Sun-Grown. For some strange reason, this one is often described as a mild-medium bodied smoke; you might as well call red blue, IMO. You can feel the strength of this one in the first puff. In fact, it hits me much harder than many of the more famous full-bodied smokes (JDNA is obviously an exception :) ). Anyway, this one ages beautifully, has a wonderful smooth flavor, and kicks like a mule. Worth a try.

As Charlie has stated the Joya de Nicaraguas are one big a$$ kicking cigars. If you really want a good buzz smoke about 3 of them quickly along with drinking a lot of beer while playing golf on a sunny warm day (over 95). Your golf game may go to sh*t but you will definately get the buzz you are looking for!

LOL!

Most definitely concur with what X, Charlie and octo say: Joya de Nic Antano, El Rico Habana, and Camacho Diploma/11-18 in that order. The first two offer the most fullbodied, flavorful bang for the buck of any smoke out there IMHO.

It depends on what you mean by getting ass kicked?
One I dare anyone to nub is Hugo Cassar San Andres Toro Maduro, got two of these in long term storage maybe til 2010. You start sweating and your ears begin to ring at a 4 finger length and if you can make it to 3 fingers; your eyes bug out and get a whole body quake like DT's.

Or

Camacho 11/18, which kind of makes me mello and get a silly grin on my face.

I agree with all the choices and I'll add a few that I like.

Dom Thomas Fat Toro Corojo

Diesel's

Cuban Parejo

There are others. Just read the review on the bids.

WARNING...don't operate heavy equipment, drive or try to walk a straight line if pulled over after smoking these.

Only kidding, these taste really great. Full bodied though.

What X said. I smoked my 1st El Rico Habano Club at my local shop then had to take side streets all the way home. NEVER smoke one of these in a phone booth!

I found that the CAO Brazilias and the Torano Exodus 1959 to give you a very nice little head spin after finishing.

What they said and add Astral TVS to your list. What a punch in the face.
If you have access to Habanos the PSD4 and PSD3EL will also knock the hat off your head.

Partagas Black Bravo.

Try this one if you enjoy great big billows of beautiful smoke! If you do inhale... EAT FIRST!!! This one knocked me on my butt for a fair amount of time.

After my first ERH double corona several months ago right after breakfast, I was rocky until the afternoon and haven't gone near the ones in my humi since. Hoping that time will tame them a little. Smoking a JdNA Consul as I write this, and believe me, this is a asskicker, too, but very tasty and great real cigar aroma.

I've had most, though not all, of the cigars mentioned in this thread ... some, like the ERDH and Punch Rare Corojo have given me a little of that buzz on some occasions, and the Camacho selections mentioned have produced a bit more, for a real big-time jolt, the Joya de Nicaragua Antano Belicoso on an empty stomach is pretty much the closest you'll find to be a complete a lock to give you all the buzz you can handle and maybe a bit more ... several experienced cigar men I know won't touch 'em because of the kick they can produce ...

All right ... might as well keep this thread going. Last night's cigar was a CAO Brazilia Samba and yes it kicked my butt.. Took me 10 minutes to clear my head and was unable to finish down to the nub... Wow and tasty too.

CAO and the Brazilia line especially are always rich complex and flavorful. My only occassional dissapointment is that CAO's always seem to have a tighter than average draw. I end up double puffing them often. (maybe that's why the Samba kicked my ass last night). I'm letting the other 9 Samba I bought rest for a while.

dbguru,

Good idea to let the Brazilias to sit for a while in the humidor. I have never had a problem with the Brazilias that I have. I love them! I've smoked them morning, noon, and night and have only gotten a buzz off them once when I smoked it on an empty stomach. Now I enjoy a cup of Kona coffee with a GOL and I'm set for a good hour with a heavenly taste in my mouth! Yummy!!
