I've got a Classic Maduro Robusto Buc with a Costa Rican band on it. How long ago did Buc move to Nicaragua (read: How old is my CR Buc so far)? I'm keeping it in the 'dor for now, but within sight (don't want to mistakenly pick it up until I know we're both ready). In the mean time, there are plenty of Nic Bucs to burn.

The leaves for the Clasico Maduro are aged 5 years before rolling, and then an additional 6 months is given to them in their aging rooms before they are released ...

... any more time you can put on them is just 'icing on the cake' ...

The Bucanero factory is in San Jose, Costa Rica ... but they use leaves from Nicaraugua, Ecuador, Sumatra, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica ... as well as Connecticut Broad Leaf ...

It will be 2 years this fall when the factory relocated to Esteli. The Robusto you have from Costa Rica is probably about 7 years old now. I will tell you that nothing changed but the location of the factory. Blends and tobacco all satyed the same. The Costa Ricans are now just older.

And older is better. Thanks for the info. Once again you show that there is a wealth of knowledge out there, and you just have to ask.

The only reason, and believe me, it's the only reason, that I post on Bucs is because of Slim. He enjoys stirring the pot. I enjoy stirring the pot. He felt compelled one day to chime in on a post that was CLEARLY tongue in cheek. CLEARLY a simply joke. He chimed in that I was some sort of sub human for making a joke about bucs. For the life of me I can't remember even what it was! But I remember someone acting like an a-hole, saying something to the effect of "nanny nanny boo boo, you did it now! look what you did! you're a wiener!!" hahha you stepped in it! How dare you! You're a moron! And I told my friend at Buc! And now your in trouble!! So from that day forward, I swore an oath not to buy and to surreptitiously jab at bucs which is really a thumb in Slim's, let's just say eye...

Several folks have pointed out the fact that many people can say “I don’t much care for cigar X” (insert your brand here) and people don’t FREAK OUT! But for some reason, people will key your car, flame you, commit physical acts of violence against you, etc… If you say one cross word about bucs. It’s kinda weird, isn’t it? Again, it’s really more of a dig at a$$holes who over-reacted to my post who’s handles rhyme with whim as opposed to anything serious against Bucs. I have at least 3 boxes in my humi. I just don’t like the taste of crap. I don’t care who it’s coming from. And Slim turds are some of the worst, because they’re so self righteous and pompous…. Did I actually type that? Or was I just thinking it?

What is the friggin' big deal here? What, now you can get 'in trouble' with the big, bad cigar manufacturers because you say their cigars aren't that good?

The Onyx people would have a great lawsuit against CF these days, if that was the case.

The obsession with 'defending' Bucanero on this site is pretty absurd. Robby and I agree on little politically, but we agree on this: no other cigar gets a raft of defense like Bucanero if someone says 'mine wasn't so good.'

I had a couple with plugged draws awhile back, and posted a query re: 'is this typical?' There were a few replies typically rushing to praise Bucanero, some saying that the poster would 'talk to the folks at Buc' and, guess what...nothing happened. Not like I thought anything should happen; plugs happen in cigars. It isn't a big deal. But the posts were clearly an attempt to 'defend the name.' It's crazy.

This 'email me Robby' b.s. is just another level of craziness. (Or maybe I misunderstood, but it seemed to be a stern sort of 'email me').

One question: why the hysteria?

Indeed. Actually, I do like there cigars. But Different strokes for different folks. Some folks like gars that others don't I was speaking to Groucho tonight. I was smoking a Don Tom Dominican which I particularly enjoy. He said he just didn't like um. Oh well... Different strokes...

here's my email;

Ok, bent over and waiting patiently…

First, I love your cigars.

As I’ve said, I have several. A box of full sails unopened. A box of classico maduros.

And I have nothing against you personally.

I posted some stupid comment on a thread that I can’t even remember.

And Slimboli (a$$hole) jumped all over me with a bunch of in your face comments. Well, if I stood in front of you, and started pushing you in the chest, you’d push back I’ll bet.

That guy is a pompous a$$, and my comments are intended to do nothing more than tick him off.

Did I mention that I’m a customer? And I particularly like your cigars?

jdrabinski --- anyone can like or dislike a cigar, and everyone has every right to post their opinions on whether or not thay like a cigar or not. That is not the issue here ...

Robby ... you 'definately' have serious issues ... and obvious mental problems.

This is the last I will say on this subject, because Robby will just 'twist and bend' it to suit his needs anyway ...

In Robby's original post ... (tounge-in-cheek) ... he 'pretended' to be from Bucanero Cigars, and stated that they 'buy' their cigar ratings. Not knowing Robby's 'bent' sense of humor, Robert (the President of Bucanero Cigars) read his post ... and not knowing where Robby was coming from, was fairly upset with the fact that someone would impersonate one of their staff, and post false information about their company. And I, being good friends with Robert (and he knows I'm a regular on these forums), he sent me an email asking who this guy was ... and why would he say such a thing.

After I read Robert's email ... I made a post to Robby saying that his asinine comments were going to get him in trouble ...

... and since then, he has been obsessed with every post on Bucanero cigars, and he just can't let it go ... and obviously is going to prove me right.

Thanks for getting back to me. First off fully understandable now that you
explained a little more to me."

My best advise is to be stronger minded and don't let him push you so easily and so often ...
