Fuente 858 Question

Hey guys

I've been looking to buy a box of Fuente 858. I've also seen Fuente 858 "Claro". Whats the difference?

Also, many have bragged about the quality and taste of the Fuente 858. I've had 1, it was great!

The Fuente Hemingway Signature is the same size as the 858, but is VERY expensive in comparision. Are the Hemingway's that much better than the Great 858's?

Whats your take on these smokes? Thanks.... :>)

Mag --- if the one 858 that you had ... and the one that you are talking about is the one I sent you ... that one was the 858 Sun-Grown. The rest of the 858's are good, but they do not compare to the SG. The claro is with the green wraper ... and very mild and tasteless, IMHO.

The natural's are a good 'go to' cigar ... the maduro's are better ...

But like I said ... the SG's are incredible. When you hear folks talking about the 858 ... most of the time they are referring to the sun-grown.

858 Sun Grown - Fantastic
858 Maduro - Terrific
858 Natural - Wonderful
858 Claro - to be avoided as all green cigars are.

IMHO

JDD, unclear on the margin of difference between terrific and merely wonderful. Could you re-rate on a scale of 1 to 10? lol

LOL

Fantastic = Bought a box at an inflated price and actually happy about it.

Terrific = Would smoke this every single day if I could afford to.

Wonderful = My wife smoked this one to the nub.. then I finished it.

That a little clearer?
:-)

Much. Thanks. True confession time: I also paid through the nose for 2 boxes of 858 SG's. Both are unopened and aging. I still have two loose ones that I am looking for an excuse to smoke, like a rainy day or a sunny one.

OK, you Fuente 858 SG lovers, what will you go to when they run out? Any other Fuente SG come close? I tried the chateau whatever robusto size SG and didn't think it was in the ballpark.

LLT - The Cuban Belicoso SG is the closest, and a DAMN good cigar. Definitely the closest to the 858.

... not even the same blend of leaves, but Chris is right about the next runner-up ... ;^) ...

... I wouldn't even compare the two ... to be honest with you all ... or even put them in the same league.

The SG Cuban Beli is as close you will come to an 858 SG. Have some CB's with some age that are smoking very nice now!

Mag, IMHO you will find the Hemingway Short Story, Best Seller and Work of Art are a much better smoke than the Signature.

I really don't mean to be snide or disrespectful ,,,, but If you can find me a box of SG 858's at any price less than $120.00 please buy me at least 2 if not more!
I doubt that you will find any boxes and those that you do will be considerably more expensive as they are extremely limited release in the past years and are not expected to be released this year at all.
Good luck though!

I'll definately take an $85 box of 858 SG's!! You just won't find them very many places. You can probably get some by trading, but it will cost ya.
