somewhere, in what may be a long post, there will be somethiug of interest to you. morts, bea's
bakery and gelsons.

today i had one of those days that i didn't want to end.

we have two parrots that are out of their cage all the time. every two weeks a woman cleans and
we leave the birds in the cage for three more days.. that means we have 4 days, every two weeks
with a clean floor. ross suggested i get some of the new cages with aprons that keep the dirt and
crap from falling on the floor. before i move the birds to new cages, a traumatic change for them
after 8 years, and before i spend money better spent on cigars, i mounted some plastic rain
gutters where the aprons would be. this morning the only place still clean was the area under the
aprons. the thought of having clean floors and not getting rid of my birds was something i never
dreamed of. this morning we went to the wholesale pet supply warehouse (jews do not pay retail)
and found perfect cages. toby and i had been to the bird show sunday and anything decent was
close to $600.00 each. i could buy, let me see, well lots and lots of bad frogs for that kind of
money. of course the warehous had two perfect cages for $230.00 each. still plenty left over for
more cigars. we will pick them up today when the waehouse opens , in about 6 hours.

from there we trudged off to the "imported from china" warehouse where we bought a bunch of
goofy looking flamingo lawn decorations to give to people. i will post a picture, bought an 8 foot
windmill for bradley and patrisha his wife, as a christmas gift. 2 or three more things and i am
done and wrapped for christmas before the 4th beating last years record by 4 months.

finally off to the san fernando valley, israel east, for some serious shopping. with me eleltea?
toby went to bea's and i went to mort's. we each spent about $37.00. toby got 12 black and
whites, 1 pound of mixed delcos, 2 strawberry tarts, a chocolate cake and a thin sliced seeded
rye. i got 1/2 pound of tongue, a nice piece of cod and 2 kishka's. by the way, kishka runs 50
cent an inch. $6.00 for a one foot kishka. who did better for the money?

and now for the cigar part. toby went into gelson's for groceries. gelson's is the best grocery
store on earth and we drive over an hour each way to shop there. all the meat is prime. all the
veal is white. their pineapples arrive from hawaii every morning. to you guys that don't live in
california, you do not know how humane we are to our cows. they ae not slaughtered, we wait for
one of them to drop dead and then we sell the parts.

toby went inside and i sat on the patio outside the store and lit, thanks mike, a bohemian
revolution dos capos predator 5 X 50. i had a full quart of special coffee in the thermos and the
world ceased to exist. there we were, me and my cigar. if anyone said anything about the cigar, i
couldn't have heard them from where i was. past ecstasy, past nirvana, past all the dimensions
"flatland" only hinted at.

i tasted the cigar and smelled the smoke and felt it's shape in my hand. perhaps others may have
noticed time stopping for an hour and a half, i didn't.

Sounds like a great day Rick! I too have had time stand still while smoking a classic cigar with good coffee, three times. I am looking forward to experiencing that a few more times too.
