I found a Cuban Hoyo de Monterey Epicure #2 in the bottom of the humidor that was dated November 1999 ... and I smoked it last night. It was gifted to me when it only had one years age on it ...

A beautiful cigar ... sums it up nicely ... and it reminded me what a rare treat a well aged ISOM really is!

Sounds good Slim.

It's great when you find a special stick buried in the humi. Maybe I'll go digging tonite, but I know I'm not gonna find a treat like you did.

I don't date them, and also, you won't find many (if any) Cuban cigars with cello ... ;^)

On the ones that are traded or gifted to me ... some of the benefactors will label and date them ... especially if the bands were removed by the seller, to get them through customs.

I was referring to ALL of your cigars... not just the Cubans. I know that Cubans rarely have cello. I did trade for some machine made HdM and Quintero that have cello.
I used to keep a log of when I bought each cigar and how much I paid. Since C-Bid and all of my trading... My log book is shot to $hit !!!
I did trade w/ someone that put labels on the cello with month and date on it...

Maybe this belongs in another post, but as someone that buys a lot of ISOMs in Canada and live in Atlanta, I've found a method that works. I take all the bands off the ISOMs while in Canada, and stick them in an envelope and mail them home. Then when I get home I stick them back on the cigars. I still have 15 or 20 ISOMs that are mystery cigars that I forgot to mail the lables for...but nice surprises...

The one I had, the person who sent it to me used a strip of paper that he made into a band, wrote the name and date on, and then applied it with a piece of scotch tape ...

E - Chick, according to the pic that I saw with your HdM it appeared to be a DC (Double Corona) not an Epicure...And the DC is the flagstaff for all Havanas.

Flagstaff is where to go here if you get a little hot here in the valley...jerkin ya Billy!

Never had the Epicure, but have and will have more of the DC. And concur completely on what age can do to a Havana primo like the HdeM; two hours of bliss sums it up. Thanks Chris!!!

I thought that Epi 2's came in a cabinet and were unbanded. Oh well, what the hell do I know.

calavera --- they just may be ...

... the only two I have ever had, were ones sent to me by others, who made and put on their own bands so they could be identified ...
