hey guys - i always get great info here, so thanks a bunch in advance-

i have a new humidor that's only been active for about a month - i noticed the RH dropped a little recently when i introduced 10 new sticks - it dropped to around 65%. I decided to add just a drop or two of distilled water to the generic 'credo', only to discover that the oasis foam already has small white patches on it. when i first got it, i drenched it good in 50/50, and this is the first time i've opened it since. is this mold? already? it wasn't much, but it was instantly noticeable. i scraped it off (it was on both sides) and added a few drops of distilled water, and returned it to the humi - should i be concerned? My hygrometer (admittedly analog, but salt-tested and calibrated) hasn't gone over 70%, and the sticks look, feel, and smoke perfect - i'm just worried now. i actually had to scrape kinda deep into the foam to get past the white spots - they seemed to penetrate about 1/8 inch down. my questions are - is this normal? if not, shouldn't the 50/50 solution inhibit mold growth on the credo foam? i'm on the coast of SoCal with no AC, but the humi is in a dark corner and i seriously doubt if it has gotten over 75 deg.

any suggestions/advice/experience/speculations/mockery/humiliation/intimidation would be welcome!

thanks-
ike

Same thing happened to me.I freaked at first, called 911,they were of no help.I also cleaned it,got most but not all. That was more than a year ago.Have not had a problem with my gars since.I dont have an actual answer to the problem other than in my situation,I learned to accept it.Good luck
