Well Every One after a week of busting my Back Side Repairing Damage from our storm a week ago I'm Done with the major repairs and starting on the Shop and what is left of inventory. So Taking a break I was surfing through the Forum's and it hit me in the Post A Pic area That most all the pic's with Cigars every One has the ring on the Cigar while smoking it. Does it stay on until you are done?? This wondering mind wants to know , because when I light up a Good or Great Cigar the 2nd thing that comes off is the ring the 1st is the cello. Maybe I'm just a skin flint wjo wants to get every last puff humanly possible of those Great ones.. Or am I not alone and the rings are just left on for the pic.'s?? Guess I'm an Old fuddy dud that doesn't want to share my Great stuff with just any One so I guess if they can't see the ring then they won't know how good it is. LMAO.. Just wondering about it.. And YES I do have better things to do right now than wonder about this but hey it's break time. LMAO Thanks.. TinMan.

I leave the band on while smoking. If I get that far down, I slide the band off and keep on smoking. I just like the look of the cigar with the band. I also think it comes off easier after smoking a bit.

Same here. The band has an appeal to me while I am smoking the cigar. However, as I continue to smoke it down, I'll remove the band. Two reasons: I have a cigar diary where I make notes on the cigar and can place the band in a glassine window to remind me, and secondly, I never know when I might have an opportunity to pick up true Cubans by substituting the original band for a "legal" band I've taken off of a cigar.

I've read, although I can't remember where, that there's a long standing debate as to should you leave the band on or take it off. This article said the British custom is to remove the band so you won't embarass your companions that may be smoking an inferior brand. As for me, I smoke mine naked so I won't be embarrassed when my companions see the cheap stogies I buy. LOL.

I'm with Tinman. The only reason I may leave a band on is if it is difficult to remove. Then it comes off as soon as it loosens up.

I usually take them off. If I have a box where the wrapper sticks to the band when removed,I will keep it on until it warms up and removes easily. X

I take the band decide when it wants to come off. This is not meant to be too ridiculous or too Zen. I do not remove it before lighting, but usually do before finishing.

Well, the rain exploded with a mighty crash
As we fell into the sun
And the first one said to the second one there
I hope you're having fun

Band on the run, band on thr run
And the jailer man and Sailor San
Were searchin ev'ryone
For the band on the run, band on the run
Band on the run, band on the run

OOPS ... sorry ... wrong band ... you want to know about the band on my cigar ... Well, if it is tight, I leave the band on long enough for the glue to soften, then remove it ... too often, the band will be stuck to the wrapper with a small bit of glue and removing the band too quickly will tear the wrapper ... if the band is loose, I remove it right awa

IMHO the band should stay on... Once a I pulled a band off and it ripped the wrapper... then the cigar made a whistling sound every time I drew.

Now that is embarrassing.

Leave the band on... you paid for the stick, be proud of what you are smoking

Never hide the cheap band from someone smoking a more expensive one. There's no shame in having the same enjoyment and spending less. If you don't like your cigar, then THATs a different matter. Maybe the other guy will see he outspent you and offer one of his. Brother of the leaf and all.

I've had many ask what I was smoking and it is a little easier to show the band than describe it.

IMHO

Iheard sometime ago, that some manufacturers use the same gluing process on their bands as they do on the cigars. Its supposedly beneficial to wait until you partially smoke the cigar to warm up the glue making it easier to remove the band without damaging your smoke.Either way its your preference that matters the most.

I just smoke it right through the band. Adds a slight hint of wood and glue.
