Ok, these have been sitting in the `dor for a while, so I thought it was time for another test run. Here were my findings… 1.) These things never seem to burn right. Has anyone else had this problem? I originally thought it was the humidity, but it’s clearly not. 2.) Does anyone notice the scent of molasses in this cigar? This cigar is eerily reminiscent of the old Costa Rican maduro blend. As a matter of fact, I have about 15 left of the old blend made by Borhani a year ago. This blend is damn near identical to the Nicaraguan Extreme. Then, as I have many times before, compared the new Nicaraguan maduro to the old Costa Rican maduro to see if they compare. They don’t. If you can find the old maduro cigar you will see what I mean. The C.A.O mystery continues….enjoy gang!

wany, I have to agree with you on the uneven burn problem with the CAO eXtreme, at least with the Belicoso size. I have a box that's been in the dor I guess almost 3 weeks now, tried 2 sticks when I first got the box, they were kinda green tasting. Waiting for another week to give them another test run. A cigar at this price should NOT need 'dor time, so I'm mildly disappointed, however, it was a good smoke despite the uneven burn. I noticed a slight molasses taste, but more of an unsweetened cocoa taste.

JMHO.... You might try cutting the gar ahead of time and breath thru it a few times and then let it sit out with the side that was down in the box up. This might help with cigars like these that have a "heavy " leaf wrapper which seems to suck up a lot of moisture...Found the same problem with other gars that have a wrapper like those....I am not surprised by the way that we all are still finding primo cigars with not as much ageing as they need and if you can stand to wait put dem down for at least 6+ months so they can marry..I have beeen putting almost all the cigars I rec' away including ISOM's for at least 6 months and find they burn better, have more flavor etc....Again JMHO...

I have smoked a total of 1 (one) CAO, and found the entire line to be overhyped. They are all underflavored, and overpriced. I in no way found it to be extreme. Maybe they are extreme for the mainstream, but not for a cigar smoker. It did not even have the descency to present a complex flavor profile. What the hell is going on here?

My findings on the Extreme (Belicoso size) after smoking about 10-12 of them is very positive. I still say this cigar has the strength and full flavor that would compare with a VSG or ISOM. I don't remember any problems with the cigar burning poorly.

I agree. I have smoked about 6 Extreme's so far and have had no problems what so ever. Great, powerfull smoke. Very comparable to VSG's. On a side note, the ones I have smoked and the box that I have are from when they first came out. Perhaps, to meet demand they have rushed the newer shipments.

I've had a few of these. So far a couple Toro's and a few robustos. They are still a bit too young but after that first few puffs I was very impressed, a very nice full-bodied taste with hints of choclate and spice. If I bought a box, I would definately let it sit for 2-3 months. And, I DO think its outrageous that considering the cost that they should have to wait to be smoked. They should be aged right out of the box. Personally, I think they kinda rushed to get them on the shelf.....Brent

While I like CAO Anni Cammies and maduros, the eXtreme is much ado about mediocrity, IMO. I have smoked a dozen or so after having let them rest and set up at a lower smoking humidity. I have YET to have one burn properly. The finish is too dry and astringent for my tastes, too. PASS
